What's behind Nicole's tacky tight trousers?

Nicole Kidman's metallic Balenciaga pantsuit is so tight it looks as if she's been dipped in liquid mercury.

Never mind the pants. She can barely get the darn jacket buttoned! It's an unusual misstep for this usually perfectly attired actress.

Kidman was at the very wet Australian premiere of "The Golden Compass" this weekend in Sydney.  Conveniently, she's been working in Australia for almost a year on "Moulin Rouge" director Baz Luhrmann's new work, "Australia."

Luhrmann, whom Nic calls her "creative soulmate," wrote the screenplay, a WWII-era epic about an English aristocrat (you guessed it, Kidman) and a stockman (Hugh Jackman) who drive 2,000 head of cattle across the country and endure the bombing of Darwin, by the Japanese forces who had attacked  Pearl Harbor months earlier. Wait. Weren't those guys kamikaze pilots? So how ...

"It's been the best experience I've ever had making a film," Kidman said of shooting in the country she grew up in. "I'm committed to coming back and doing another film here at some stage."

But next year she's taking a career break and  becoming ... a C&W groupie! "You have a sort of gypsy life when you're married to a musician," she explained. "So I'll be traipsing around on a tour bus (with hubby Keith Urban, currently on tour in Canada) most of next year."

Hey, wait a minute. You don't think that her snug outfit is a portent of a possible pregnancy? And maybe that's really why she's taking a year off? If so, it's a darned good plan.

But pregnant or not, I'm not buying the solid silver suiting. What do you think? Vote now!
