Do you think Britney is a hottie or heifer?

Singerbrit_polk_14765957_600

Britney Spears' VMA performance Sunday night definitely polarized Styles & Scenes readers/viewers. Pretty much everyone agreed that her performance, to use the term loosely, lacked luster.

But the real controversy is over her weight.

Some readers mentioned her expanded girth. Others felt she looked perfectly normal and was well within the normal BMI range for a girl in her mid-20s who lives in the real world, not in the Size 0 hood of La La Land.

But, according to Us Weekly, even Britney thought she looked overweight.  And backstage she used a phrase to describe herself that I, for one, would never use, because it's, well, it's redundant.

So what do you think about Britney's bod? Do you agree or disagree with her assessment? Heifer or hottie?

I believe that Britney looks great, she is after all a mother of two, and is not expected (by the normal population, not Hollywood crowds) for her to have put on some weight. It seems that being a size zero in Hollywood is the "in thing", and most women who work and have children understand that a size 0 is just not normal. I see women like Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson, etc. and I am disgusted at the way they look, it is not normal.

Of course, Britney would feel fat, who wouldn't when everywhere you turn people are staring and talking behind her back. Poor thing has enough to worry about, what with her loser ex-husband (who trust me is just in it for the money). She looks great, and if I could speak with her, I will tell her to tell everyone to F___ Off. No one teaches you to be a mother and a perfect woman, when the manual comes on the stand everyone women that I know would rush to Barnes and Nobles.

Lacking in talent, generic, boring. Say what you will about her performance and song, but Brit was not "fat". In fact, let's applaud her for having the courage to actually get on stage in a glittery bikini when she is not as thin as she used to be. It is refreshing to see a "star" not be anorexic thin and disturbing to see the media jump all over her for being a normal weight.

Britney looks like a healthy young woman, but she needs to choose attire and material more suited to her age. On the other hand, successful people are successful because they're not afraid to fail. Just ask Cher and Madonna. Britney's in good company. At least she's not bulemic.

Great body...no talent.

I think Britney should have wore something differnt, but she still looked okay. It's sad how the media and the public get off saying hateful things about people. We were why the youth act the way they do...they have perfect role models.

True, Britney had a hotter, leaner body once upon a time.
Now she is just like any other normal healthy girl.
I like a woman with SOME curves (not too much); I don't think she looked that bad.
I'd still do her. JMO.

Her body is just average now, not amazing like it was before, and the reason that everyone cares so much is that she never had much talent to begin with. When she was lean, all of her VMA performances were about stripping down and trying to look sexy, not about trying to sound good. She can't be mad about people criticizing her body, if she used it to help get famous in the first place.

I'm not a Britney fan. Her performance at the VMAs lacked energy, and, when compared to her earlier efforts, felt uninspired. I'm not going to say she looked great onstage when she looked nervous and unsure of herself. But she was hardly a "fat pig."

This country has a serious weight epidemic - according to the CDC, 66 percent of all Americans are overweight, and approximately 30 percent are obese - yet Britney isn't adding to those statistics. She, like a handful of other stars - Mandy Moore and Scarlett Johansson included - looks like a woman who works out but isn't fanatical about it and who eats right...most of the time. The media, and America, should accept that beauty comes in a variety of forms, and it doesn't have to equal rock hard abs.

Heifer? I would like to know what you, Ms. Snead, look like in that outfit. And anyone else who writes about it. The "media" needs to get some perspective...which is a scary statement, if you think about it. Britney looks fine. Which is amazing since so many people feed on her. And for the record, she has more talent than most of us.

Okay. Sure. Britney's NOT fat. But one thing is clear: She's not very appealing, either.

Yes, she is a mid-twenties mother of two, who has recently been through the worst of times. She's gone bald, gone loco, and now Britney's gone another step further, by pretending she IS what she WAS, prancing around in her jimmies as if someone actually asked her to "gimme more".

No, thank you, Britney. Please keep what you have. Don't give it away.

On Sunday night, Britney was out of shape, out of step, and sadly enough, out of her element.

When Brit finally does get it back together, and can once again entrance us with her prowess as a performer, maybe we can forget about all of the things about her which we find so disturbing. Until then, Britney should stay in the gym, stay in the studio, and most importantly, stay at home, and take better care of her two kids.
