Rinko and Evangeline are fashion faithful
What designer will "Lost" star Evangeline Lily and "Babel" babe Rinko Kikuchi wear to the Globes?
Turns out that they'll both be loyal to designers they've worn and loved.
At last night's stylish Chanel dinner at the Chateau Marmont, hosted by "Factory Girl" Sienna Miller, Rinko told me she will definitely wear a Chanel gown to Monday's award show. The Best Supporting Actress nominee has been happily wearing Karl's designs for the past few months. Yes, several designers did approach her but she's a loyal Lagerfeld lady.
Evangeline, who looked amazing at last night's Chanel dinner, with upswept hair, in anl off-the-shoulder bubble mini-dress, raved about her Lagerfeld frock: "It looked like it was for a six-year-old on the hanger but it's so stretchy and comfortable. It feels like I'm wearing my pajamas!"
But while the Best Actress in a TV Drama nominee was flirting with Karl last night, she's definitely taking Donatella Versace to the Globes. Why? Remember the stunning purple Versace gown she wore to the last Emmy Awards?
"Donatella totally designs for my body," Lilly explained. "When you find a designer whose dresses fit that well, why look elsewhere? The most important thing about a gown is the fit."
But Evangeline was mum on the color. "I have to save some surprise for Monday."
For Globes color predictions, I'm hearing that pure white - a trend kick-started last year by "The Queen" Helen Mirren - is now the reigning color choice for the Globes. Next in line for the throne?
Pale champagne is also bubbling up. Metallics still shine. But
bright royal blue is coming on strong, with several A-list actresses - presenters and nominees - holding
blue gowns for the big day.
But some fashion insiders say that the fact that Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet both wore cobalt blue to the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards, may cause some actresses may switch to another color. Hey, it's a very competitive carpet. No actress wants to look out of step with style or like they're blindly following the fashion pack.
How about the men?
Here's a fer-sure: Forest Whitaker, Best Actor nominee for "The Last King of Scotland," will be a trend-setter! He had a final fitting for a unique navy blue blue shawl-collared tuxedo at Domenico Vacco on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills this week. Domenico told me that Forest's tie will be a pale blue and his wife will also wear a gown from Domenico's new women's line. "Stranger Than Fiction" Best Actor nominee Will Ferrell will also sport Domenico, a classic double-breasted tuxedo.
