Angelina Jolie's mother dies
Sad, sad news. Angelina Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, has died of cancer. She's been battling the disease for seven years. She died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, with Jolie, her brother James Haven and Brad Pitt around her. Bertrand was just 56. A private funeral is being planned and the actress has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Women's Cancer
Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai.
One cannot help but think that her mother's terminal illness contributed to Jolie's noticeably somber mood at the recent Golden Globes. Maybe now the press will lighten up. I know I speak for all her fans by expressing deepest sympathies.

Yes, it is difficult to carry on with your mom in hospital.
But to show your TRUE PROF. class why don't you remove the Jan 22, 2007 post on why Ms. Jolie looked sad and the Maxim advertisment on how she would look in 30 years. That would be the class thing to do as Ms. Jolie and family struggle with the death of a mother.

Just wanted to express my condolences to Angeline, and James for the loss of their dear mother. I love Angelina, and thankful that she has her love Brad Pitt by her side to console her through these sad times. They are a beautiful couple, and her mother is at peace knowing that her daughter has found true love, and have 3 beautiful children. God bless the Jolie-Pitts..

I believe US Weakly "reported" (puns fully intended) that Angelina had visited her mum 2 weeks ago, which woul d place it just around the time of the GG. So, perhaps her somber mood was due to her mother's illness.
I have to say though, for myself, that looking at the RS interview, I could not find anything wrong in how she looked or behaved. She stood quietly by her man's side, supporting him, letting him take the limelight - as he has done for her in the TGS premiere. What I will say is I noticed how much Brad and Angelina were in tune with each other at the GG's and how Brad always seemed aware of where Angelina was throughout the red carpet walk. They never seemed more then an armslength away from each other. Their body language speaks of genuine love, tenderness and concern.
