Carlton Cuse has amazing taste in 'Lost' blogs
It's a busy week for yours truly, both personally and professionally. And while the "Lost" blog must go on, the 2500 word essays might have to put on hold for a while. I know, you're all crushed that you can't read a "War and Peace"-esque tome about the symbolism of Frogurt's name in relation to the ice-cold cave in which the frozen donkey wheel sits. Apologies.I did want to link something I previously mentioned on my Twitter account late last week, since many of you aren't the Twitter types and may have missed it. Thanks to the blog SL-Lost, I learned that Carlton Cuse knows about this blog. Which, quite frankly, was a freaky thing to learn. Cool as hell, but freaky all the same. It'd be akin to learning that Anne Frank was reading your diary. OK, maybe that comparison fails a bit when you think about it.
In any case, head over to SL-Lost and listen to the audio file therein. It's from a music and arts festival in Seattle called Bumbershoot, at which Carlton spoke about "Lost" with writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Listen to the whole audio, but pay attention around the 15:30 mark for mention of this article.
Apparently, it pays to Bring the Ling.
Now, do I think Carlton's a regular reader of this site? That's a lovely thought, but I can't imagine it's true. But clearly, someone tipped him off to that particular article, and I'm pleased as punch to have something I wrote mentioned by Mr. Cuse himself. (The crowd laughter over the topic of the article was also nice to hear. Normally on the blogosphere, no one can hear you laugh. Or see you read this while in the bathroom. Which, quite frankly, is fine with me.)
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go make my "Carlton Cuse Has Read My Blog" t-shirt for Zap2Locke Con this Friday. I hope it will eventually be considered a "Lost" collectible, up there with Eko's Jesus stick and Hurley's hurled Hot Pocket.
Coming the rest of this week: Underappreciated "Lost" Theatre, in which we look at a few gems that don't always get recognized when talking about the finest hours of the show's run. So leave your suggestions for episodes below, and yours just might appear later this week!
Ryan invites you to join the hundreds already in Zap2It's Guide to Lost Facebook group. He also encourages you to subscribe to the Zap2It's Guide to Lost Twitter feed and Zap2it's main feed for all the latest TV, movie and celebrity news.
Also, be sure to sign up for Zap2Locke Con, less than one week away!

Outlaws, outlaws, outlaws. Such a great episode, but does anyone remember it well?
I think the scene in the pilot where Kate sews up Jack's wound was fairly significant. Not only did it establish the main relationship on the show, but in reflection, it's a pretty big metaphor; Jack, always trying to fight the good fight and "fix" things, being himself repaired by his loved one before going back out onto the battlefield of the War for the Island.
And they have referenced that scene (and the Count to Five story) ALOT during some of the other most significant moments in Lost's history.
A few that come to mind off the top of my head that don't get enough attention: Raised by Another, The Greater Good, One of Them, The 23rd Psalm. And I've always been a little fuzzy on whether or not Cabin Fever gets a lot of love, but it definitely should if it doesn't.
Congratulations on Carlton Cuse knowing who you are!
Is "One of Us" widely considered to be among the finest hours? If not, then it belongs on the underappreciated list. It definitely deserves consideration for one of the greatest performances of the series. Elizabeth Mitchell was beyond awesome in that episode.
Congratulations, Ryan!
As I've probably mentioned before, I agree that the sewing scene (from the pilot) is something special, as well as Psalm 23 and most of the others listed above. (Well, below now.)
But I think Ryan is looking for more obscure stuff... which by definition is hard to think of off the top of one's head. Hmm... have to ponder...
What about "Orientation"? Is that too obvious? That was the moment I crossed over from simple fan to Hooked For Life. The first mention of Dharma, and our first Orientation film... amazing. It marked the high point for writer Javier Grillo-Marxzuach (sp?), who would depart soon after... one of the reasons why the show bogged down in the 2nd half of Season Two.
If we're going for more obscure, I'll just stick with The Greater Good. It's nothing too special mythologically speaking, but those Sayid flashbacks are all kinds of :(
Plus, the general idea of 'the greater good' has been an important theme (or rationalization) for almost every character on the show.
kate calling her husband about taco night. i dunno why, that was just super funny to me.
wasn't there an episode while still on the island where hurley lost his mind and was almost suicidal? i just remember feeling so sad for him about libby. the image of him waiting for her on the beach thinking she must have stood him up when actually she was on her way, it's just michael shot her. that was sad.
Sorry guys, I should have been more specific: I'm not looking for scenes, I'm looking for entire episodes.
defintely S.O.S - the Rose/Bernard flashback episode!
