'Lost': Rank and file, Part 2

By Ryan McGee

March 25, 07:14 PM

Elizabethmitchell_lost_s4_240 Yesterday, I started ranking all eight episodes of Season 4 of Lost, from worst to first. If you missed the initial rankings, make sure to check them out. In addition, make sure to weigh in here on topics you want discussed in the interim weeks between new episodes of Lost, and email me any and all pressing concerns for inclusion in this week's edition of "Letters From The Flame."

Well, now that we've gotten all old business off the agenda, onto new business! Namely, my top four episodes of this season. I'll reiterate what I said yesterday: all numerical rankings are relative to the complete body of Lost episodes; nothing more, nothing less. For all intents and purpose, no other show has ever existed on television other than these. No Buffy the Vampire Slayer, no Bewitched, no Love Boat...so forth and show on. We good? Good.

On with the top four! As with yesterday, links to my initial recap of each episode are provided below.

***

#4) The Other Woman

The Good. Harper's collection of diplomas. Juliet's choice of top-wear. "You look like her." Ben's videotape. The true purpose of the Tempest. "You're mine!"

The Bad. Faraday clichéd saving the day resolution. The falsely ringing final kiss.

The ranking. How you view this episode depends on upon how you view the character of Juliet. If you don't like her (and a lot of you don't), then this episode was akin to nails on a chalkboard. For me, I enjoyed not only getting huge mythology beats explained (the source of the gas, the man behind the freighter), but also an insight to a woman who wasn't exactly innocent upon her arrival to the Island. When I say I enjoyed her choice of top-wear, I don't mean that from a drooling fanboy perspective; her cleavage-revealing tops indicated a woman who knew exactly what she was doing with Goodwin from Day One and thought she wouldn't get caught, either by Harper or Ben. Juliet's struggle to be a "good" person predates not only the arrival of the Lostaways, but her arrival to the Island, and this episode shows just how much further she has to go before all is said and done.

Final Score: 7.5/10.

#3) Ji Yeon

The Good. Everything on-Island between Sun and Jin. Regina's walk of shame. Gault's densely packed monologue. "Good." The date on the tombstone.

The Bad. Jin's flashback verges on pure manipulation. Transforms the Oceanic 6 plot line more confusing retroactively than necessary.

The ranking. I'm a complete sucker for Sun/Jin stories, and while I am somewhat slightly annoyed at the flash forward/flash back technique employed in the episode, I nevertheless felt something was "off" about the off-Island activities, and as such, I was riveted by both storylines as they were unfolding. Gault's monologue established the first of two compelling possibilities concerning the fake wreckage (finding its equal and opposite narrative during "Meet Kevin Johnson"), and the final scenes added emotional heft as well as mythology to not only the Oceanic 6, but those left "behind" (whatever that word may ultimately mean). While we now know the identities of the Oceanic 6, just where is everyone else? And why is Hurley so happy that no else else came to see Sun?

Final Score: 7.8/10.

#2) Confirmed Dead

The Good. Every freakin' flashback. Faraday's observation about the way light scatters. The first hints of a global conspiracy. Team Locke's wariness of Charlotte. Miles' photograph.

The Bad. Yes, we all known Ben has information you need, Locke. Naomi's conversation with Abaddon too vague by half.

The ranking. While the introduction of four major characters into the show at this point could have given us all character fatigue, it instead invigorated the show with four instantly compelling backstories, all tied into the day of the discover of the faked crash. Many such of myself expected shady villains to land upon the Island, but instead got much more subtly shaded character that demanded our attention while simultaneously tingling our Spidey senses. Even more so than "The Beginning of the End," "Dead" showed just how far this show's sights were set, narratively, as they moved us from a show set on an island to a show that literally spanned the globe. "Confirmed Dead" in many ways expanded the show's storytelling possibilities as much as "Through the Looking Glass." With this episode, Lost showed just how much it meant business with the end of the show in sight.

Final Score: 9.0/10

#1) The Constant

The Good. Too many things to list. As solid an hour as Lost has ever produced.

The Bad. It wasn't two hours long.

The ranking. At the time, I instantly ranked this as my third favorite Lost episode ever, right behind "Through the Looking Glass" and "Walkabout." Having watched the episode several times now (I'm up to five at this point), I'm confidently upping it to number two. If "Walkabout" showed what an episode of Lost COULD do, "The Constant" shows what it CAN do, when operating at peak efficiency. It's possibly the densest show aired thus far, but the complex pseudo-science within takes a backseat to the emotional aspect of Desmond's desperate need to reconnect with Penny. If you weren't moved by his phone call to her upon the freighter, then honestly, why are you watching this show? In that moment, Lost took advantage of the medium of long-form television narrative in a way rarely seen. It paid off a longing exhibited for literally YEARS, and as such, produced a feeling an exhilaration you simply can't achieve in a two-hour film. It's the type of moment that reinforces why I watch shows like this: all the smoke monsters and hatches don't mean a thing without a human heartbeat amidst it all. Bless its heart: Lost didn't forget that. If this episode doesn't get a perfect score, it's only because doing so would mean the show has nowhere else to go, and I simply don't believe that to be true.

Final Score: 9.8/10.

***

And thus concludes my list. Feel free to drop your Final Four below, either as a stand-alone list or with short explanations for your rankings. And make sure to email me questions/comments for this week's Letters from The Flame, or leave your thoughts below with a big ol' WAAAAAAAALT! at the top.

Comments

4) Beginning of the End (Being as it was the 1st episode in 9 months, it wasn't bad. Hurley, as always, is entertaining)

3) Confirmed Dead (Introduction to the Freighter-folk. Showed us that they are possibly the key to unlocking the Island's mysteries.)

2) Meet Kevin Johnson (Like most here I don't particularly like Michael's character. However, I felt the episode gave us a lot of answers, and set-up what is sure to be a riveting rest of the season.)

1) The Constant (Desmond and Penny are the true love story of the show. The moment they finally reunite will be one of the biggest pay-offs of the entire series.)

Shaggysteve | Mar 25, 2008 8:36:25 PM | #

since I already gave my entire list in the last column (sorry bout that), I will just go ahead and give my opinion on something...

WAAAAALLLLTTTTT!!!!

Why does everybody hate or not care much for Michael's character? I would really like to see that as either a topic during the hiatus or just people listing their reasons why...

Mark O. Estes | Mar 25, 2008 9:40:26 PM | #

Ryan -- Glad to see that you rated "Confirmed Dead" so highly, as I also loved all the flashbacks (unlike some others on this list apparently) and appreciate the quality and complexities of the new characters.

(Which is surprising, as I expected to be turned off by the addition of more characters... especially as I'm still burned by the fact that Charlie really didn't need to die -- in any non-metaphysical sense anyway -- as he could have just as easily closed the door on the way out.)

And of course I also completely agree with you about "The Constant".

All of which makes me surprised at how much more you liked "Ji Leon" (as I call it) than I did. Then again, I kind of burnt out on Jin/Sun flashbacks a while ago, and I am especially offended by writer contrivances.

Anyway, in sum:

8) Ji Leon
7) Eggtown
2) Confirmed Dead
1) The Constant

The other four are about equal; I'd have to watch them again to rate them. As you pointed out, they all have their good and bad points.

By the way, in my post yesterday I don't think I made it clear that I was talking about the beginning of the episode when I said I noticed how much the camera (Ben's POV) seemed to be noticing how much Karl was caressing Alex.

Mark - In regard to your question regarding why so many people don't like Michael: Any man who would murder two women we care about in order to do something some bad guy told him to do, just because the bad guy said he would then return his son, is not someone we should care much for. Nobody told Michael he had to kill these people; the very fact that he wasn't willing -- or able -- to come up with a better plan is further evidence we shouldn't care much about him.

I, for one, was somewhat disgusted with the enthusiasm the announcment of the return of Michael received (at Comicon and such), and am thus so hearted that, if no one else, at least one person is not letting him off the hook so easily: Walt.

"concerned" | Mar 25, 2008 11:58:55 PM | #

Well, I guess I don't really understand the hype about "The Constant."

I mean, I get the emotional aspect of it. The connection between Desmond and Penny and that final phone call *made* the episode. But that was like, pretty much it.

The time-tripping was interesting, and certainly explained "Flashes Before Your Eyes" (which I always assumed to have been A) a hallucination/dream or B) a literal time-travel, body included). But I felt like they barely scratched the surface of the big science mystery for this season, but it wasn't a big enough scratch for me.

Also (and I know its still early), the captain was being painted as some kind of badass, sinister dude starting with this episode. Something akin to an Abbadon. But so far, the captain is a bit punch-happy but not so bad.

And they killed Fisher Stevens in his first real appearance, which wasn't cool. Michael's flashback notwithstanding, I hope Stevens role on the show isn't over.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, "The Constant" was maybe one of the better episodes this season, but for me, not the best. And I can't say it would neccesarily make my Top 3 overall either.

Other Sean | Mar 26, 2008 12:28:34 AM | #

On the other hand, "Confirmed Dead" just blew my freakin' mind.

The polar bear in Tunisia, the magical, mystical Miles Straum, Faraday and the Metal Box of Impending Doom, the return of John Locke: Island prophet, the reveal of Oceanic 815's wreckage, another sininster Abbadon scene, and that final shot of Ben, casually passing through airport security and taking the game to the next, gobal level.

Totally awesome episode.

Other Sean | Mar 26, 2008 12:39:03 AM | #

Concerned: I feel your sentiments, but a lot of people I talked to prior and during the events really didn't like Ana Lucia (you would not believe how many arguments I got into trying to defend her actions). Libby was a mistake and I don't think he was intending on killing her. Simply wrong place wrong time. And the fact that no one ever told Michael to kill Ana Lucia and Libby was only emphasized in "Meet Kevin Johnson". Also keep in mind that Ana Lucia killed Shannon, which most would say was in total fear, but others would say was just plain stupidity and paranoia. Also, Ben said it best (even though he is partly, if not completely, to blame for this all happening) in that what would a man do for his son? ALSO, I believe that Michael was more distraught and hurt over the fact that he killed Libby than he did Ana Lucia. Why else would Libby be haunting him rather than Ana Lucia?

Mark O. Estes | Mar 26, 2008 1:05:30 AM | #

Oh and I am sorry about getting off topic, Ryan and everyone else.

Mark O. Estes | Mar 26, 2008 2:40:44 AM | #

WAAALLLLLTTTT!
I got my question in too late for the last Flame, it seems, so I will cut and paste it in this thread:

oh, and i prefer VINCEEEENNNTTT!!

In a slightly off topic question, why can't I opt to have follow-up comments sent to me by email?

Morgan | Mar 26, 2008 5:07:49 AM | #

"The falsely ringing final kiss?"

Ryan, I love ya man, but wazza you talking 'bout? That was one of the sweetest kisses I've ever seen on Lost!

My ranking:
4) The Beginning of the End
3) Meet Kevin Johnson
2) Confirmed Dead
1) The Constant

Jeff | Mar 26, 2008 6:38:50 AM | #

My ranking:

4) The Other Woman - mostly because I liked the other 4 less. Plus it had that great line about it not being easy being an Other.

3) The Beginning of the End - mostly because the next two deserve the top two spots.

2) Confirmed Dead - I just really liked this episode. And I still want to know how Miles turned wood into metal...

1) The Constant - I'm on the Penny/Desmond bandwagon, so this episode rocked. Plus I like the mythology-heavy, pseudo-science-heavy episodes best (usually).

DanC | Mar 26, 2008 7:45:40 AM | #

Does anyone not have The Constant #1? Has there ever been a show where a supporting actor joins the show in the second season, leaves for extended periods of time, and is both a fan favorite and an integral portion of the metastory?

David | Mar 26, 2008 7:54:13 AM | #

4) Meet Kevin Johnson- I love Michael actually. Some of his actions are horrible but I am intrigued by his character progression and I think Harold Perrineau's acting is some of the best on the show. I love the creepy story-line of the Island not letting some of the characters die.

3)The Economist- I'm a sucker for some Sayid and I think the conversation between Ben, Sayid, and Locke in the Game Room of New Otherton will pay huge dividends down the road. Yeah, the bracelet thing kinda irked me but not enough to drop the episode any further.

2) The Beginning of the End- First new episode of Lost in over 8 months, the introduction of the Oceanic 6, the introduction of Matthew Abandon, Charlie appearing to Hurley, Hurley's regret at joining Locke's camp, the conversation between Future Jack and Future Hurley. Also, I think the path that Hurley goes on from happy-go-lucky fat guy to sad and morose fat guy is fascinating.

1) The Constant- Loved the time travel, some of the best acting I've seen, the first scenes with of the freighter-folk, etc., etc. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Blue Sean | Mar 26, 2008 8:04:08 AM | #

"And why is Hurley so happy that no else else came to see Sun?"

Because it's a lot saner-sounding than asking her if, by any chance, any dead people had paid her a visit.

Just a guess.

AdSlinger | Mar 26, 2008 9:05:06 AM | #

my list:
8-Eggtown: totally ridiculous to think she's going to walk scot free after all the laws she broke. I don't care who you are, you don't get away with murder AND armed bank robbery, ask OJ. Also, Claire better not be dead after Charlie sacrificed himself.
7-Confirmed Dead:wasn't nearly as interesting to me. Too little info.
6-Meet Kevin Johnson:despite all the exposition, it still would have been good to see them get rescued and more importantly, the real WALLLLT! I don't care if he's 6 feet tall by now. Its TV, i can pretend not to notice because i don't get hung up on crap like that.
5-The Other Woman: Liked it, although the kiss seemed really forced. Their first kiss was a lot better.
4-Ji Yeon:predictable but enjoyable. I've had Jin in the death pool for a while now.
3-The Beginning of the End: a rare Hurley episode that wasn't comical at all, but very compelling nonetheless. Great kickoff to the season.
2-The Economist:Loved the entire show
1-The Constant-Desmond, time travel, 'nuff said.

steve | Mar 26, 2008 9:08:04 AM | #

"And why is Hurley so happy that no else else came to see Sun?"

I just think he doesn't like the others. There's obviously been a souring of some of the relationships between the Oceanic Six for some reason; just look at Kate and Jack in the S3 finale and Hurley and Jack in The Beginning of the End. LOL, maybe he just hates Jack?

Jeff | Mar 26, 2008 9:15:37 AM | #

On an unrelated note, I still hold firm that Ben staged the crash.

Jeff | Mar 26, 2008 9:18:03 AM | #

Ha! Because I procrastinate so magnificently, I get to do all 8 of mine today. Er, wait, I meant to say "because I'm so efficient..."

8. Eggtown. Bored me. The Aaron reveal at the end was predictable. I had already started to guess that her "son" was going to be Aaron by the end of the show.

7. Meet Kevin Johnson. Good back story, but can we start campaigntokillmichael.com? Looks like Sayid would sign up. Michael still owes me for shooting Libby. On the other hand, he did usher Michelle Rodriguez off the show, so maybe he has one redeeming quality.

6. Ji Yeon. I liked the emotion and the feeling of it, but I was so sad to know Jin hadn't made it back with Sun. Also, the cuts back and forth were confusing. And do we really believe Jin is dead? I didn't think so.

5. The Beginning of the End. I liked this episode, but not as much as some of the others on the list. I am curious to know why Jack went from "we're never going back" in this episode to "we have to go back" in Through the Looking Glass. Also, Charlie back for one last huzzah was a good add. I was happy to see him again.

4. The Economist. A big ol' WHA...? at the end. Very Lost-like. (Oh yeah. It is Lost. Duh.) But really, what kind of hold must Ben have to make Sayid willingly work for him? And when in the heck is someone going to put a bullet in Ben's brain? Can someone not just shoot him, please?

3. Confirmed Dead. Great intro to the new people. Grenade sammies = yum... not so much. Still, I felt like they were just trying to throw the new people into the show and quickly explain why they were there without much fuss.

2. The Other Woman. Oh the lies, the deceit, the chicanery. And that's just from Juliet. Never mind the Harper/Smokey (your choice) manipulation, let's focus on who's lying to whom here for a minute. And just exactly how whcked-out-of-his-mind NUTS is Ben anyway? Obsess much, bug-eye boy? Maybe he needs some more regular time with Harper and a little less time in the secret room and the teleporting cabin of mystery. And where the hell is Scooby Doo when you need him? Velma would get to the bottom of that cabin mystery in 18 minutes or less.

1. The Constant. I cried like a little girl. 'Nuff said... No it's not. That episode was awesome! I loved it. The emotion in the performances was so believable, just typing about it gives me goosebumps. There were not enough Kleenex in my house for that one.

AdSlinger | Mar 26, 2008 9:32:06 AM | #

AdSlinger, I totally cried, too. What? I'm not ashamed to admit it! Stop judging me! *tears*

Jeff | Mar 26, 2008 9:41:49 AM | #

"And when in the heck is someone going to put a bullet in Ben's brain? Can someone not just shoot him, please?"

...maybe the Island won't let Ben die just yet like it won't let Michael die. Folks could try, but they won't succeed as Ben, too, has more work to do....

djc | Mar 26, 2008 10:56:26 AM | #

Aaaah, Lost is like pizza & sex, there is no bad, only different levels of goodness. Sorry, Ryan, I've got issues with ranking one episode over another, but I can tell you my least favorite, this year, is hands-down Ji Yeon. A more manipulative peice of storytelling, I have not seen. My favorite, like yours, was the Constant. Since watching it twice, everyone I come in contact with (that I care about) has become my "constant". My dog's tag reads: "If found return to my constant." Constantly Yours, Brian of the North

Brian of the North | Mar 26, 2008 11:36:19 AM | #

since I missed the first half, I'll list all mine here even though it's difficult to do, since I like them all.

8 - Other Woman - as much as I like Juliet, this episode felt the weakest. It was a flashback which to me shed more light on Ben than Juliet. I may be being too harsh though since this aired after the Constant.

7 - Eggtown - agree the trial was weak. Unlike others, I was still surprised by the Aaron reveal, maybe I was too tired when I watched, but I went from thinking Kate's son was Sawyer's to Jack's to actually Claire's all in one episode.

6 - The Economist - Despite being a Sayid fan and there being things to like about the ep, a good chunk of the flash forward I didn't care about.

5 - Beginning of the End - felt parts of this ep were rushed. Another pet peeve was that Hurley had no contact with anyone but Jack in the flashforwards? No mom, anybody else come to visit in the mental ward? It felt like something was missing.

4 - Meet Kevin Johnson - This was hardest to rank since not sure how this ep will tie in to rest of season. Agree Sayid at the end was abnormally out of character, but he also went through the anomaly to get to the freighter like Desmond so who knows? Would have liked to have seen or at least explained how/who rescued Michael and Walt and what name he was using b4 he became Kevin Johnson.

3 - Ji Yeon - I wasn't totally bothered by the flashforward/back in the same ep. I knew something was off so wasn't a complete shock and it was sad, but I also love Sun and Jin. I actually felt this may have been the weakest Sun/Jin episode to date though, but in comparison within S4 so far, it was still a strong ep.

2 - Confirmed Dead - I couldn't not love this episode! Even though it was 4 flashbacks of new characters, it was so captivating to me that even though it offered more questions and confusion and little in explanations, I still feel it was a great episode.

1 - Constant - Just an amazing episode! Not sure where it ranks out of all 80 or so episodes so far, but definitely gets top spot out of these 8. To me this episode had everything, the mythology, science, character development and emotion, it was just about the perfect balance of everything.

Craig M | Mar 26, 2008 12:34:08 PM | #

4-Confirmed Dead
3-Ji Yeon
2-The Other Woman
1-The Constant

"The Constant" has one of the most emotionally genuine sequences I've seen in a long life of watching television, and like others here, I'm not WAAAAALTing afraid to admit I got teary.

2-The Other Woman
1-The Constant

Tonester | Mar 26, 2008 12:45:39 PM | #

I'd go so far as to rank "The Constant" right up there with some of the best television ever produced, including episodes such as "The City On the Edge of Forever" from the original Star Trek and "Paper Hearts" from The X-Files (which a lot of people don't like, but which contains one of the hands-down best, non-supernatural villains ever...evil is always scarier when it comes from such a seemingly-nice guy). So no argument with much of the placement of the season's episodes to date, and definitely "The Constant" for number one. Oh, and as a completely non-important aside, isn't there a drinking game involving the number of times Jack's name is said/screamed/yelled/growled? Seems his name is mentioned more often than Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalt's. Hee-hee-hee.

Dark Disciple | Mar 26, 2008 1:06:39 PM | #

I'd love to participate in Lost drinking games, but somehow I doubt Zap2It would enjoy the recaps that would come from such an endeavor.

But maybe setting up some for repeat viewings during the interim would be fun.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I sense an entry coming.

I don't know, Ryan. I think my drinking game schedule is all booked up with the "My Friends" John McCain drinking game. Especially with all of the debates coming up soon.

Jeff | Mar 26, 2008 2:00:40 PM | #

My top 4 are ranked as:

4) Ji Yeon - I like the Sun/Jin stories a lot. I think of the original characters from the crash, that Jin still has the most room for growth b/c it seems like almost all of his actions are a response or a reaction to something so when he actually gets to initiate something in the future it will carry greater weight.

I also like that this ep created a lot of debate - in a positive way. i.e. the tombstone opened up so many different theories about where those not in the O6 are, who survived, who died etc. -> I really enjoy reading this blog for the theories/ideas that Ryan and the many posters (esp. the regulars) present.

3) The Other Woman - I am a sucker for Juliet centered eps, even though this ep didn't really move the story forward as much as some of the other eps that I ranked lower on the list, focusing on Juliet and Ben is never a bad thing IMO.

2) The Economist - Sayid is, IMO, the most underutilized character of the Losties. His backstory and his road to redemption - or what looked like it would be a road to redemption - took a sharp turn with him being an assassin. Plus the reveal that Sayid was working for Ben - just WAAAALTing awesome! I still think that was the best reveal of the year.

1) The Constant - there was little doubt that this would be #1 when Ryan presented this topic of discussion. I said it when the ep aired (in the recap blog and to myself when watching the ep) that Desmond gets the best storylines. I find it rather funny that argubably the best show on tv's (I think the majority of the regulars on this blog would agree with that statement) 3 best characters weren't on the show during the first year. I rank them as 1) Desmond; 2) Ben; and 3) Juliet. You can say that swayed my ranking of the eps are the top 3 feature those 3 characters prominantly.

Looking forward to the next topic of discussion, especially if it is the 'topic we want to talk about the most' column.

Rishi | Mar 26, 2008 2:49:31 PM | #

4)Ji Yeon--I love Sun and Jin too, especially the unconditional love they (now) share. Right on cue, I was surprised by the twist (you smart people should try it some time--it's kind of fun to be schocked). I still am wondering about the "Good" from Hurley, and I cried when Sun and Jin made up on the island and the when she went to his grave in the future.

3)Meet Kevin Johnson--like Hurley, there times when "I want some friggin' answers!". This episode was excellent in that realm. We know if Michael made it off the island, we know how and why he's made it back to the island, more about the Boaties and Chopperettes, and a plethora of other information. Granted, it wasn't perfect, but it did satsify some need for answers, some of which were question hanging since season 2.

2)The Constant--call me crazy, but it's only number 2. My head loved it, but it grabbed my heart, lost it, and then recaptured it in the end. Pretty darn amazing episode, though.

1)The Economist--maybe it's just because I love Sayid. I, of course, was shocked at the end. My mouth was literally hanging open. The middle also kept my attention; I was very curious to find out about these bosses they were talking about. It was a pretty amazing Valentine's present. It still gets me that Sayid lost to Desmond in the March Madness bracket for coolest "Lost" character on the Washington Post's website.

Jeff: I'm pretty sure that if I did a LOTR Extended Edition drinking game, that would be grounds for divorce as far as my wife was concerned.

That being said, that sounds awesome. Heh. Do you drink every time Orlando Bloom looks and acts expressionless? That only would guarantee a trip to the ER.

Ryan | Mar 26, 2008 3:29:52 PM | #

I really hope you read this. First of all the constant was great but not in the top five, or top ten. The top episodes are:

Through the Looking Glass 9.8
Pilot 9.8
Exodus 9.7
Live Together, Die Alone 9.5
Man Behind the Curtain 9.4
The Man From Tallahassee 9.2
Orientation 9.2
Man of Science, Man of Faith 9.1
Lockdown – 9.1
The Brig – 9.1
The Constant – 9

Kyle T | Mar 26, 2008 4:27:18 PM | #

I would agree that the The Constant was the number 1 best ep. My list would be as follows:

8. Meet Kevin Johnson
7. Ji Yeon
6. The Other Woman
5. Confirmed Dead
4. Eggtown
3. The Economist
2. The Beginning of the End
1. The Constant

Ryan, luckily my wife is being a good sport about it... this time.

We're debating what will be the magic bullet for the drinking game. The obvious would be any cries of "Frodo!"

I do like your Orlando Bloom idea, but the Mines of Moria and the Council of Elrond scenes would get us drunk far too quickly!

If "The Constant" episode doesn't bring LOST multiple Emmy nominations, there is something truely wrong with the Universe within which we live! One of the BEST episodes of television all year and to me one of the finest drama episodic hours - EVER! Pitch Perfect! It made me realize why I LOVE THIS SHOW!! I remember even screaming that out - I LOVE THIS SHOW! My friends and I had discussions about our "Constants" in our lives. It was neat! I love it when a show can make you reflect upon your own life!

Ryan, did you read what I said about Michael in response to concerned's comment? I would like to use that as a question for THE FLAME.

All this Waaaaaaaaaaaaalt-ing kinda reminds me of the walrus chorus at the zoo. It's quite funny, really. And without all those nasty tusks getting in the way. Waaaaaaaalt! (those drinking games, man...whoo-hoo!) As for the LOTR drinking game, I was thinking more along the lines of every time Frodo grimaces for whatever reason (what a friend of mine also calls the Frodo Is Constipated Again, or FICA, face...use freely, it's not copywritten), which happens about 122 times each movie. Corona works for a mild buzz, Glenmorangie if you have money and like the taste of 60-year-old peat moss. Whatever your poison, fun fer all.
