Showtime renews 'Nurse Jackie' for season 2
Showtime has recruited more than a few familiar faces to guest on the upcoming third season of "Californication," but I think Ed Westwick is the first one I really care about.
The first "United States of Tara" season wrapped last night -- if you haven't yet seen it, it will re air on Showtime, so set your DVR -- and looking back, I feel pretty good about the show. I wasn't sure at first, but as the episodes progressed I got more and more invested in the characters and their specific drama...
Showtime's "The Tudors" returns this weekend and I must say to those who have never checked it out, do. Please do. "Big Love"'s season is now over, "Desperate" and "Brothers & Sisters" are both MIA this Sunday, so your schedule is pretty clear and you have time to sample the Jonathan Rhys-Meyers drama which chronicles the life and times of King Henry VIII.
We've watched Buck beat up Tara's daughter's boyfriend, we've seen T make out with Tara's son's crush, witnessed Gimme wet Tara's parent's bed and Alice pretend she's pregnant by Tara's husband...
Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) is going to prison, people. Showtime President Robert Greenblatt has just announced that The L Word spin off -- which we first heard about last year -- will center around the character of Alice and her future incarceration. The pilot, co-starring Famke Janssen, Laurie Metcalf and Melissa Leo, has been shot, though Showtime has yet to see it cut together. They will make a decision on whether or not to greenlight the series -- which they say could be described as a female Oz, though not quite as dark -- in the next couple months.
A week from today, we'll all be buzzing about the previous night's Golden Globe Award winners... who had the best speech, the best dress, and more importantly, who was the most deserving. While I don't personally know any of the 80 plus voting members of the Hollywood Foreign Press, I'm still hearing rumors about which television stars and which shows are virtual shoe-ins for a win. And though the HFPA is generally known to honor more cutting edge and hip recipients than the Emmy voters, many people are saying Mad Men and 30 Rock will take home the top TV prizes, just as they did at the Emmys a few months back.
