Though NBC has not officially announced that George Clooney's much talked about ER homecoming will air tomorrow, show sources confirm that his character Dr. Doug Ross will indeed return this week.

So, the Oscars... it was a nice show, sure. But a little boring, right? Besides Ben Stiller's Joaquin Phoenix tribute -- which he was largely just silent for -- and the Tina Fey-Steve Martin team up, where was the funny? I mean, I know Hugh Jackman isn't a comedian, but even with five horribly unprepared reality show hosts helming last year's Emmys, we had Jeremy Piven picking up the slack by calling them out on it, we had Amy Poehler displaying her uncanny knack for foreign languages, we had Ricky Gervais delivering a genius bit during which he killed on stage and then went into the crowd to confront Steve Carell. Let's just call it now, TV stars are far more entertaining than film stars.
And since we're on the subject of entertaining TV stars and Steve Carell, I think I'll answer a couple questions concerning him and his impending Office storyline today. I'll also address inquiries regarding Brothers & Sisters, ER and Desperate Housewives...

Though NBC has yet to confirm, it looks as though Dr. Doug Ross will be back in the ER before the series takes its final bow this Spring. According to Entertainment Tonight and RadarOnline.com, sources are saying that George Clooney -- who played Doug Ross from 1994 to 2000 -- will be filming scenes for the show this Thursday and Friday.

No surprise, but NBC President of Primetime Entertainment Angela Bromstad just announced that we're getting another season of 30 Rock, The Office and The Biggest Loser. All well deserved renewals. Also, three additional episodes of ER are on tap (bringing their final season to a total of 22 hours) and a premiere date for the Amy Poehler sitcom project has been decided: April 9th at 8:30.
