Oh what a night of television we have ahead of us: the second episode of J.J. Abrams' Fringe, the third hour of 90210, the premiere of House, the season finale of Big Brother, not to mention more Greek too. The Fall season is in full effect and I'm pleasantly surprised to say that we actually have quite a bit to look forward to.

Last night, cable's newest success story, ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager, ended the first half of its inaugural season with boffo numbers. Attracting more than 4.5 million viewers -- 3 million of them in the attractive 12-34 demo -- it not only beat its own ratings record, but easily bested The CW's new 90210 spin off, which fell 30% from its debut to 3.3 million viewers overall.

Interesting fact: Jason Priestley, who rose to fame playing Brandon Walsh on 90210's original series, directed yesterday's Secret Life of the American Teenager finale.

Appearing on Full House for seven years, most of us know Lori Loughlin as Rebecca Donaldson -- (Uncle) Jesse's girl and Danny Tanner's cohost on "Wake Up San Francisco" -- but The CW is hoping the next generation of couch potatoes will recognize her as the new Cindy Walsh. Playing Debbie Wilson, the wife of West Beverly High's principal and the mother of their two high school-age kids on the 90210 spin off, Lori and I talked -- among other things -- about her familiarity with the 90s version of the show, her opportunity to work with some of the veteran cast members and which TV couple's relationship most resembles that of hers and on-screen husband, Rob Estes. Now playing Dixon Wilson, the adopted son of high school principal Harry Wilson and his wife Debbie on The CW's 90210 spin off, Wilds new fictional world couldn't be more different. I mean, he is basically the 21st century's Brandon Walsh. I recently caught up with Tristan to see what he thinks of all this...

She was not even a year old when Beverly Hills, 90210 first premiered on October 4th, 1990, but Toronto native Shenae Grimes is well versed in the 90210 world. Guided by her mother -- a longtime fan of the drama -- Grimes grew up on the reruns and says it's always been her favorite show. Playing Annie Wilson, the 16-year-old daughter of Harry and Debbie Wilson, who move from Kansas to Beverly Hills in The CW's new 90210 spin off, Shenae is well aware of the fact that she is, well, new Brenda...

So last month, I reported exclusively that Kelly Taylor, our old 90210 friend, will have a 4-year-old kid in the show's spin off series, which debuts on The CW next Tuesday! -- I stand by the exclamation point, I can hardly contain my excitement -- And I also mentioned that said kid's father would likely be one of Kelly's past loves, Brandon or Dylan obvs.

With so many of our favorite former 90210 females -- namely Jennie Garth (pictured left with Jason Priestley), Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty -- signing on to reprise their old 9-0 roles in the CW's spin off of the series, there's been a lot of speculation regarding their romance story lines... especially since the male characters that Kelly, Donna and Brenda dated way back when -- and married, in D Mart's case -- were portrayed by actors who aren't too keen on returning to the old zip code.

Yes, Brenda Walsh (aka Shannen Doherty) will be back home in Beverly Hills this Fall, joining fellow 90210 vets Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling and Joe E. Tata in the old zip... but Doherty isn't the latest 9-0 alum to finalize a return deal. Reliable sources tell me Ann Gillespie, whom you may just know as Jackie Taylor, will be reprising her role as Kelly's mom. Continue reading »

But the real life Matt Albie and Harriet Hayes back together?! -- It's a Studio 60 ref, for those who've already erased Aaron Sorkin's last TV endeavor from their memory -- That totally qualifies as legit TV news.

Early this week, Rob Estes (Women's Murder Club, Melrose Place) was offered the role of Harry Mills, the cool dad that moves his clan to Beverly Hills in the pilot of the CW's 90210 spin off. However, I'm told his deal has just closed and he is now officially the new generation's Jim Walsh.
