'Desperate Housewives': Susan Mayer's marital status, plus Julie & Karl back in the picture

Terihatcher In May's "Desperate Housewives" season finale, we saw a lot happen to Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), including a near-death experience with her son.

After Susan's ex, Mike (James Denton), rushed to their rescue, the two shared a passionate kiss. That kiss was followed by a wedding scene, in which Mike was marrying a veiled bride... but was the bride Susan? Or was it his fiancee, Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany)?

We won't find out for sure until this fall, but sources tell me September's "Desperate Housewives" premiere is set to feature a Susan Mayer wedding... or the preparations for one at least (who knows if she'll actually go through with the "I do"s).

Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that Susan wasn't the lady Mike married in the season finale. As every "Desperate" fan knows, the show is no stranger to flashbacks, divorces or second chances. But I'm beginning to think the tide turned in Katherine's favor. Just my gut feeling.

Either way, there's good news for Susan on the horizon. Rumor has it, daughter Julie (Andrea Bowen), who was mostly M.I.A. last season when "DH" jumped forward five years and sent her off to college, will return to Wisteria Lane full time come fall.

Julie's father, Susan's ex Karl (Richard Burgi), who hooked up with Bree Hodge (Marcia Cross) in the season finale, will supposedly be showing up on a regular basis as well.

Thoughts?

I would love to see Andrea Bowen get some non-teenager stuff to do and get a good juicy mystery/psycho boyfriend to kill in the season finale. Hee! More Julie doesn't make up for killing Bree, but it is a start in the right direction. The supporting cast has always been what brings me back. After several seasons it is still too strange to see Kyle McLaclhan as Orson. He was in "Blue Velvet" "Dune" and "Twin Peaks" - "Desperate Housewives" is so pedestrian for him!

I'm very happy to hear that Richard Burgi's Karl will have more screentime next season. He's the funniest (and hunkiest) person on the show!

The best show on TV... LOVE it!!

Not a fan of Dana D. and wish her Katherine would eat some poison .... provided Bree can make a convincing soufle for her ....

Not a big fan of Karls. Love the actor but not so much the character.

Andrea Bowen is fighting skin cancer with the launch of the Sun Safety Alliance new fashion forward UV protected clothing line by Ayana Apparel. Follow @sun_safety #SSA2009 for up to the minute info!!!

Will be Glad to see Richard Burgi in one piece. Reports of him cut in two with a head spade were greatly exaggerated.

LOL!!!

Here Here Jude! I am also a big fan of Richard Burgi (and Karl is kinda a lovale smuck!) and I am glad that he will be back for more next season. Plus I think that Karl + Bree are hot together!!

Glad to have Julie back too as she makes Susan less cloying!

I love Karl! He can actually make Susan interesting.

OOPs...my wishful thinking of death was meant Susan not Bree. LOL Of course I meant to say Edie earlier. I'm still holding out hope her one armed biker friend helped her fake her death.
