Kalpenn_house_920 After Kal Penn's dramatic exit from "House" in April in order to work for President Obama, we've been waiting to hear what he's been up to at the White House.

We're still waiting.

Apparently, Penn is still planning on being the Associate Director at the White House Office of Public Liason (whatever that means), but so far, he has yet to take up the post in Washington.

"Though we look forward to him joining the team, Kal is not working for the administration at this time," Shin Inouye, White House director of Specialty Media tells The Wrap.

So what's the hold up?

It seems that since fans reacted so strongly to Penn's exit from "House," " everyone thought there should be a bit of timely delay before he takes up work for the administration," explains Inouye. On the April 6th episode, Penn officially left the show when his character Dr. Lawrence Kutner unexpectedly committed suicide.

So, Penn isn't at White Castle, er, the White House yet, but that doesn't mean he's been spending his days scarfing down sliders either. He's been quite busy visiting American troops in the Middle East and hitting the college lecture circuit. He keeps everyone up to speed with his activities on Twitter.

Your thoughts?

Awesome update!

He's a better person that I am because I wouldn't delay the White House for my TV fans.He could be downing sliders and I'd still lvoe him.

Damn, he needs to be in A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas. Who will Harold smoke the Christmas tree with?

Let him get to work!!

It's just a tv show.

Um, who cares?

How about if Sean Penn takes his place--as Jeff ****oli. And they visit the set of Weeds & "accidentally" burn it down. Way way down...

Are they serious? I'm glad he left, I didn't care how or why. I wish him good luck on his new ***ignment but I won't miss him on House
