Can Stephanie March fill the 'Law & Order: SVU' void if Meloni & Hargitay don't re-sign?

Stephaniemarch A fan favorite has signed on to return for "Law & Order: SVU"'s 11th year, but it's neither Chris Meloni nor Mariska Hargitay.

According to EW.com's Michael Ausiello, Stephanie March will be back for a minimum of ten episodes next season.

This is really good news for her fans because, as KTV's "SVU" expert Marisa Roffman stated, the lame "she's stuck in traffic" excuse during the season finale was not going to fly as a way to send her character off.

However, knowing that March will be back, yet Chris and Mariska are still without signed contracts, you have to wonder if something we don't know about is going down.

"SVU" should be starting to map out the next season relatively soon and to do that, they're going to need to know which actors are returning and which ones are not. NBC is aware of how much the fans love March's character, Cabot. Is it possible that, with Chris and Mariska's contract negotiations still at a stalemate, we might have early season episodes sans Stabler and Benson? It would certainly make sense for NBC to do whatever they can to entice viewers while CM and MH are absent and Cabot's episodes did bring in some of the best ratings this season...

I don't know, I'm just sayin'...

Would Cabot be enough to keep you coming back for more "SVU" even if Chris and Mariska were M.I.A.?

As much as I like Cabot (my favorite ADA, by a mile) she wouldn't be enough for *this* fan to continue watching SVU.

Mike Doyle said on an interview CM and MH are coming back - he said it like it was a done deal - http://bit.ly/7qftx

Simply no. And it scares me that they are starting to trot this stuff out! That exactly as you say they are trying to drum up some support for SVU without CM and MH.

I love SM but I would not be able to watch without CM and MH period.

Stephanie March is awesome and I hope that Meloni and Hargitay don't sign on again. Changes detectives works for the other L&Os. Besides, knowing that the actors are acting really greedy, especially when people are losing their homes, it doesn't make me want to watch SVU.

Absolutely not. Alex has always been my favorite ADA and it was thrilling to see her back this season. But i watched the show without her and there were some amazing eps that occurred after her time. Those eps surrounded Mariska and Chris. They are my reason for watching and without them the show has nothing left for me. Having Stephanie back is wonderful..but would just be an added bonus to the main attraction of MH and CM.

no.

I say good riddance to the both of them if the don't re-sign. Hopefully their arrogance and greed will be their downfall. The show will survive without them. Cast changes have worked on the other shows and this one will be no exception.

Having Stephanie March back is great news! She is by far the best ADA they have had on the show.

I would think it refreshing if they stepped aside. The show has grown stale and unbelievable the last few seasons and I think the writers trying to get the two stars storylines is the number one reason.

Take the HORRENDOUS season finale for instance. Three quarters of the episode was good with all the detectives have large roles--like in the early years when it was an ensamble show--the it skewed off into the crazy CSU moron that got Hargatay and Meloni another storyline.

Last I thought this was Law & Order SVU? These days it looks more and more like Nip/Tuck.

A once great show has fallen so far, maybe without CM and MH, it will go back to its earlier form.

I love Mariska and she would be missed. However Chris can go...and it is time to bring in blood on this show. I would watch if chris and mariska did not come back.
I gotta admit I will miss Mike Doyle
