Adam Lambert isn't the first 'American Idol' alum to be outed on 'The View'
"[Clay Aiken] was outed on this show also. What is this with this show?!"
These were the words of co-host Joy Behar on this morning's episode of "The View" when Barbara Walters broached the subject of Kara DioGuardi's controversial appearance last Friday, during which she outed "Idol" finalist Adam Lambert as having "always been out" of the closet.
"That's right!," gasped co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "That's right! It wasn't by a guest, but --"
Of course, the ladies were referring to former "View" panelist Rosie O'Donnell who made a big stink a few years back, alleging that a comment Kelly Ripa lobbed at Clay Aiken (while he was filling in for Regis as a "Live" co-host) was blatantly homophobic.
It wasn't until late September of last year that Aiken publicly admitted that he is, in fact, gay, however Rosie talked about it on "The View" as if it was common knowledge.
Think Kara's words regarding Adam's sexuality will affect the way he handles his personal business in public?
Word is, Lambert will set the record straight re: his sexual orientation in an upcoming issue of "Rolling Stone," but since Kara seems to think it's no secret, perhaps he won't...

What Kelly Ripa did was anti-gay. Is doesn't matter if Clay acknowledged his sexuality at the time or not because most presumed he was gay.
Kelly's comment to Clay Aiken had nothing to do with being gay. Putting your hand on someone else's mouth is just unsanitary and no -- you never know where anyone's hands have been.
Rosie was out of line and I am glad that Kelly phoned in and called her on it.
It was not anti gay what Kelly did. It was Anti CLAY. He is gross.
Agreed Terrence. You just don't do that to someone.
Judging by what's become known about Clay in the past 9 months or so, his sexuality was an open secret in the entertainment industry. Seems highly probable that Kelly knew about Clay's orientation. She's been known to put her hands over people's mouths and have the same done to her over the years she's been doing Regis' show. She's known as Ripacrit for a reason.
Can you guys seriously NOT SEE that Adam is gay? What the hell is the big deal, I thought it was about singing....what's gonna happen when he comes out and officially says it? It's not like it's gonna be some big shock.
It WILL be a shock to some of his dimmer fans. I've seen many a post denying that he's gay, saying he's just "theatrical." Don't underestimate the latent ****phobia in this country. Aiken lost fans over it & so will Lambert. As for Ripa, that bimbo could never take a joke (which is all Aiken was doing) unless it's she directing it at someone else. Aiken was way funnier than her on that show & she couldn't handle it.
The funny part of all this is that Ryan Seacrest is well-known to be gay, and he doesn't have to "come out." American Idol has a history of gay performers, so what. Adam is by far the bravest of them all, in every respect, and never "pretended" he wasn't, like Ryan and Clay, and possibly even Kelly did. Adam's gift is the most exciting thing to happen to the music World in a long time. Because you can't take your eyes off him doesn't mean you want to make out with him. Just let the boy sing!
What I find ****phobic is the media constantly saying someone "admitted" to being gay.... like it's some kind of crime. You CONFIRM it, you don't have to ADMIT it. Get with it, Korbi.
Who cares what Adams' preference is....he's a phenominal performer!!!!
