'Scrubs' 9th season renewal announcement is imminent...
Sacred Heart fans, I've got scoop.
A "Scrubs" source tells me that show creator Bill Lawrence met with ABC president Steve McPherson today, and I'm now hearing from another insider that said meeting went well and the show will in fact return for a ninth season.
The rumor is that several series regulars, including Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke, have agreed to appear in six episodes of this next go-round.
And, yeah, why wouldn't they?
It's a lot of money. They all love each other. There will be plenty of time to pursue other projects...
No brainer.
But for us fans who may feel that last Wednesday's finale was the perfect swan song?
Well, I've decided to look at the new season as a psuedo "Scrubs" spin off. With J.D. exiting Sacred Heart, "Scrubs" as we know it is over. However, there may still be enough goodness there to go on in a new capacity. We'll have to wait and see what Bill and his team come up with. The younger characters will be developed further. Maybe we'll see more fresh faces. There will be new relationships, perhaps new issues. Could be cool...
TBD.

'Scrubs' to return for a 9th year? Didn't I mention this a month ago?
I'm on 'Scrubs' this week!! (Elizabeth Banks & Scott Foley are too)
You Ask, I Answer: Will 'Scrubs' return for a 9th season? Plus '90210' & more

Yay!!
I would be glad to see Scrubs back. Although I think the finale they did was a perfect ending.
i don't see it lasting. it should be a spin-off rather than just a 9th season of scrubs.
This is actually sad to me. That finale was amazing and kind of dampens what we saw. I wish ABC could see that and realize that it should end there on a creative note. :(
Still not sure how I feel about a possible return (of course I still haven't brought myself to watch the Finale so...) but you're not the first person to mention the pseudo-spinoff idea Korbi, so it might in fact work.
Now, more importantly, any word on any other ABC shows, say ones starring extremely sexy Canadians as famous crime writers and/or police detectives?! ;)
I'm still weary about the idea. There are rumors that ABC wants the show to be shot in multi-camera format, which means Sacred Heart would be no more. That would really ruin the show we've grown to love.
Meh im so-so on a ninth season. Unless they do the ER route then im not sure it would work. To me this seasons interns werent that great. They need Keith quality interns. I always thought he was good. But i guess we will see how it goes.
Here's the thing, ABC is in the hunt for a comedy or some good comedies and a season 9 Scrubs with an already built-in audience (as it were when it came over from NBC) or name recognition is a pretty safe bet for them, I'm guessing. This would give Zach Braff opportunity to direct some episodes (probably directing was on the table for him as an enticement to return). I really think Bill Lawrence, as I commented on a previous post, would do his very best to make a season 9 Scrubs work and not disappoint the fans who'll remain faithful and stick around for a season 9. Don't think Donald Faison signed on to another TV project. What's the fate of Cougar Town? and how about Better Off Ted which would pair up nicely with Scrubs.
If this does happen... They need to make Keith a central character. He's been by far the best of the newbies. Bring back Lonnie too, Keep Denise and Derek, and If they are going to add new characters(I'm sure Bret Harrison will be looking for work soon) and stick with the young cast, they will prob need at least SOME of the usual recognizable faces to stick around. Cox, Turk, Janitor, Carla.
Ohhhhhh i forgot about Lonnie definately him.
