'Law & Order: SVU': Meloni & Hargitay hope to return

Hargitay_meloni Just two days ago, NBC Entertainment co-chairman Marc Graboff confirmed that "Law & Order: SVU" will return in the fall with or without Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay, the show's lead actors who are currently renegotiating their contracts with the network.

The stars are reportedly asking for a cut of the series' back-end profits, which is proving to be a sticking point.

Last night, however, at the Joyful Heart Foundation Gala in New York City, Hargitay and Meloni broke their silence on the situation, expressing hope that a deal is reached.

"We're all trying to work it out and I have a lot of faith it's going to work out," Hargitay told "Access Hollywood."

Meloni was slightly less optimistic, but seems to be keeping his fingers crossed as well. "At this point it's out of my hands," he said. "It's a good vibe on the set. We love each other. We all love each other. We're still happy with the stories that we're telling and, you know, we'll see how it works out."

Sigh...

I'll see that 'sigh' and raise you two. At this point the fans just wanna know, this situation is nerve wrecking!

Please NBC, let me know if I'll need to find another show to watch on Tuesdays (Wednesdays next season?) at 9pm.

I think you can multiply that sigh by quite a few. Its good to hear there is some hope but it is still so nerve wracking! Please NBC, as hard a pill as it is for you to swallow, you know the show can not go on without them. They have made you a lot of money so give them a little back and lets start planning for season 11.

I must say that I am on both sides- that because of the recession NBC is not very willing to increase MH and CM salary. That is understandable, but SVU is a very successful show and it generates a lot of viewers and make a lot of money. Also MH and CM has been faithful to SVU, they work really hard, especially MH, she has a son and even after delivering her son and her recent collasped lung and surgery and hospital stays she still came back out to work. So MH and CM should get the raise they want, even if they cannot get all that they are asking for, NBC should atleast give them a percentage or half of what they are asking for. MH and CM deserves it, NBC, they really do.

they have to come back!! SVU without mariska and chris I'd like friends without rachel and Ross!!!

NBC should divide and conquer. Give a raise to MH and leave CM out in the cold. Bring in a new partner for Olivia.

NBC would be crazy to weaken and promote the death of SVU.It's one of their few shows left with any quality and fan support. Fans have accepted changes in the other L&O shows but SVU is different and these two stars make the show. It won't work for this one.

svu would not be svu without mh and cm

The fact that these 2 high paid actors have the nerve to demand more money in today's economy, where many people are losing their jobs and income, is disgusting. I have lost all respect for both of them. You want a raise, wait a year till we're better off. Sickening!

For those on the "greedy" front, they are just asking for a cut of money NBC is already making, not from the advertisers who pay for the first airing and with it, at the very *minimum*, cover costs of production, but the stuff that comes from the re-runs/syndication. If they are part of making the show, why shouldn't they get part of what the show makes, especially after 10 years!! And with everything these two do for the community, those who lose their jobs are more likely to benefit from Chris and Mariska's pockets than those of NBC and the production company......

These two actors are the only reason I watch the show.If you cut them it will be the end of a great show as viewers won't stand for it. Please rethink this.
