'Law & Order: SVU': Are Chris and Mariska's contracts close to being signed?

Are Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay heading back to work on "Law & Order: SVU"? Looks that way.

According to TV Guide Magazine, Hargitay flew to L.A. last week to discuss the details with creator Dick Wolf. Said discussion apparently went well.

I'm still waiting for confirmation from the network -- will let you know when I hear more -- but the good news sounds pretty legit.

Come on, you didn't think NBC was actually going to let "SVU"'s lead actors walk away over stupid money issues, did you?

UPDATE: The network insists there is still nothing new to report.

Very good news if true. I agree with you Korbi, SVU would die without these 2 actors more so than any other member of the cast. It would have been a shame to watch a cl***ic show fade away due to viewer backlash to these actors leaving.

Great news! I'm so hooked on that show - I think I know every rerun by heart but I keep watching. I'm a big fan of Ice-T, too - I think he's really terrific on SVU!

I don't watch SVU anymore but I always found it contingent on these two. The other L&O's seem to branch out on the characters, but this one was always so heavy on them. I think it would be bad move on NBC and them to not work it out.

I was looking forward to a new cast... These two are so boring... Plus in this economy, they are being way to greedy. No cl*** at all. They are lucky to have a job.

Good! They better sign those two back with the show!!

But i've been getting the feeling over the past two years, that the network, plus even a little bit of Mariska and Chris like to see if there will be reactions from us loyal fans! :D

I mean they shot Alex, they suspended Casey, they brought on Beck, had beck Kiss Stabler, then got rid of Beck. They brought on Lake then got rid of him and then brought on Kim, now they're sayin Mariska and Chris weren't coming back. They had Chris shot, Liv attacked in a basement,and now they're talkin that something in the Finale is supposed to be huge and you see Elliot get knocked out.

All these events brought on an emotional frenzy by devoted fans. This was probably just a fish for more reactions to see if there are still major devoted fans to SVU. Which I hear a lot of them aren't happy that its being moved to Wed. nights. Coruse I guess if they bring both Mariska and Chris back the fans can be ok with it being on Wed night.
