'Gossip Girl's' Jessica Szohr reels in a scary movie

Jessica Szohr, who plays Vanessa on "Gossip Girl," will have scarier things than Chuck Bass to worry about.

The actress has landed her first major starring film role in Dimension Films' thriller "Piranha 3D" directed by "The Hills Have Eyes" helmer Alexandre Aja, it was first reported by E!Online.

She joins the previously announced cast members Elisabeth Shue, Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott and Dina Meyer.

In the film, a remake of Joe Dante's 1978 cult classic, a local sheriff (Shue) has to save her family and a bunch of strangers at Lake Victoria from a bunch of prehistoric flesh-eating piranhas that have been set loose by an underwater tremor. Szohr will play "a hot young townie caught up in the excitement of co-eds who have descended upon the area for spring break."

Okay, "Piranha 3D" may sound like a joke, but it's a big step for our little Jessica. Not only will she be in great company, but she'll kick-start her rather tepid film career (her last film project was a bit part in "Fired Up") with a sure-fire, if cheesy, crowd pleaser that will work the 3D technology to advantage.

Anyway, she can't host those Dove Go Fresh "Gossip Girl: Real New York Stories Revealed" clips forever, right?

No, I wouldn't. And really, Korbi, really? I don't know you, but posting an article about this? No one cares! She's incredibly dry as an actress. No range, no energy. I don't understand how she keeps getting endorsements, either. Watching her "host" the NYC Stories Revealed bit, I had to cringe...it seemed so unnatural. MEGA ICK. For crying out loud, where is Jennifer Morrison when you need her?

Emila - yesterday Korbi told us in the comments about Chace from GG that she has to report on all things GG. Apparently Zap2it's research showed that show will be bring in the clicks is my guess.

Unfortch for this actress nobody is going to care about her acting in this film. The only thing the straight male demo that will pay to see this film will care about - if they get to see her 3D boobies or not.
