'Gossip Girl' spin off is not dead... yet
I mean, it might be on life support, but the "Gossip Girl" spin off hasn't been chucked in the trash by The CW just yet.
Though there have been reports that it's done done done, several insiders say the Josh Schwartz/Stephanie Savage series is still being considered as a possible midseason candidate.
One source told me the writer/producers were tinkering with the title -- which we've been unofficially calling "Lily" -- as late as yesterday.
The CW will announce their full fall schedule tomorrow and we may hear more on the fate of the "GG" spin off then... or not.
All I know for sure is there's still breath left in this baby despite premature claims to the contrary.
Could it be dead by tonight? Sure. Anything's possible. But if you're into Brittany Snow and this whole 80s concept, you can keep your vigil going for now...

First!
When last I heard, The CW doesn't have anything in contention for midseason. Last year, all they had was "13: Fear is Real". For that reason alone, they need to pick up "Lily".
Apparently the idiots that run CW have decided to pick up Light Years (or whatever it's called now) for midseason, instead of The Body Politic (the one pilot insiders said could've turned the network around) Considering I've heard plenty of people say that they want the minutes they spent watching that pilot back, I'm going to laugh when the CW fails. When all you're going to pick up is the same old, same old that is driving your network into the ground already--you deserve to go under.
I know most people didn't like what was shown on Gossip Girl and I didn't think that I would either.... but I actually did. I'd like to find out more about Lily's younger life. I'd watch if it gets picked up, but at the same time I won't cry if it doesn't.
Korbi, I asked this before but I haven't seen anything. Is Body Politic a lost cause or something for possible mid-season?
Yeah Korbi, I've been wondering about Body Politic too. I thought that one was being considered for the midseason. Got any scoop for us, pretty please?
Thanks KG for the update. Your posts are much more open minded than those that seem to only be happy if they can CAP out "TOLDJA". Lily can work, however if you shelve "Lily" then focus on "It Girl". Give her another season and "Little J" will be the next, well, "It Girl".
"The It Girl" would not work anymore. Book!Jenny and Show!Jenny are two completely different characters. There's no way they'd let Taylor Momsen go from the flagstaff show. She's the only regular character still in HS. Everyone knows shows struggle as soon as they hit college. They'll probably have to rely even more on her storylines along with Chuck/Blair if they want to keep this show afloat.
They shouldn't even bother with a spin-off to GG anyway. The show needs MAJOR work as it is.
Plus, I really want to see Nate/Jenny together as a real couple. If she is spun-off, that will never happen. I cannot take another season of Nate///Vanessa grossness.
Jules and Annie, I've been following BP, as well, and what I've heard was it was the strongest pilot the CW has had in years. What I read today, however, is that, predictably, the CW went with the pilot that got horrid reviews as a midseason pickup instead and dropped BP entirely.
I was going to give their new shows a chance this season, definitely not anymore. Instead, I'm going to sit back and wait for the network to fail. With these decisions, it's inevitable and well-deserved.
I'm interested in hearing if there's any midseason hope for 'Body Politic' .. now that T:SCC has been officially canceled, I want Brian Austin Green in a regular role SOMEWHERE!
I don't know how the CW could choose another show over "Body Politic". It's got a phenomenal cast with Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Union, Minka Kelly, Jason Dohring and Tim Matheson. Big mistake, CW, big mistake.
Maybe they'll surprise us tommorrow (I'm also hoping they surprise us with "Lily" as well).
