'Dollhouse': It ain't looking good for Alan Tudyk's Alpha
"Everything that Alpha's done, it's been to get to Echo."
That's what we just learned from a conference call with "Dollhouse"'s Alan Tudyk who was finally unmasked as "Alpha" last Friday... though anyone with access to the internet knew it was him months ago.
Anyhoo, the second half of the finale airs this week, and some new info on what to expect was revealed: Seems Alpha has 43 people in his brain... basically all the personalities he was imprinted with are still there. On Friday, we'll see flashbacks to Alpha's time as a doll, as well as what the effects of having all those peeps hanging around his psyche are. I guess he thinks he's reached an almost God-like status and his goal is to bring Echo up to the same level.
Somehow I don't think he'll succeed though. Not only did Tudyk say that Alpha may not make it through the next episode and that he didn't want to comment on his character's fate past Friday, fans of the actor know he's already signed on to do another pilot.

It was so interesting to see him cast in this roll instead of the idiot/dorky guy he plays on Tv and movies. I hope we see him more often around than in the past.
I'm very OK with this. We get a very memorable "Big Bad" for the season that harkens back to the "Buffy" formula. On a longer season, we might have gotten Alan for several more episodes, but they cast a long shadow for Alpha that it worked that we didn't need the actor for awhile.
"Heroes" should have learned the "Buffy" lesson and not brought Sylar back after season 1.
Whedon should have learned his lesson and dealt more with the big bad long ago. This season has lacked oomph and tension and is one of the reasons why the ratings are for crap(the writing has improved considerably over the past few eps, as has Dushku's over-rated acting chops). I can't see a second season happening and it's too bad because the past few eps have been very good.
Whedon should have learned along time ago when dealing with morons at Fox, i.e Firefly. I swear the execs there couldn't find their way out of a paperbag with the instructions printed on the inside, they can't even recognize a good show when they have one. It will be an act of god if Dollhouse it's axed by Fox. It's an excellent show and it's really gaining ground and substance...it will be a shame if they can it before a second season.
Tudyk was excellent and the eppy was awesome. I can't wait for this week's finale .. just wish I knew for certain if it was being renewed.. please renew it Fox!
I think the last half of the season might have saved Dollhouse from going to the attic :-) Its been great and adding Alan in was a smart idea. As for his character he mentioned in a interview with Ausellio that if they wanted him back it wouldn't be impossible he could br freed up even with the pilot. So here's hoping that both are back!
I don't think that the low ratings can be blamed entirely on Fox. Some blame has to go the bad writing and Eliza's bad acting. Briar Rose was boring until the last 5 minutes and I don't think I'll even watch the final episode.
