Will 'The Unusuals' stick around?
Admittedly, I've been a bad TV girl. Never watched "The Unusuals" screener and went to the bar last night while the pilot was airing. But my right hand (wo)man, Marisa Roffman, was all up in that "Unusuals" business and she said she's still not sure how she feels: the first 15 minutes is apparently painful, the quirks they've thrown in might be a bit much, the cases are weird and so are the cops.
So "The Unusuals" is unusual.
Actually, M.R. said she'll continue to DVR it and watch if she has time, because the characters have some twisted secrets which sort of intrigue her.
Still, it's airing in the famously cursed post-"Lost" position, so it probably has zero chance of survival, no?

I watched it (though I was sick to death of the promos) and was stunned that I really loved it. I thought it had a good story and it was funny, particularly the bit with the "lie detector" - it made me laugh out loud and NOTHING on TV does that. If its as good in the following weeks as it was last night, I'll definitely be watching!
I really liked it and will keep watching.
The "lie detector" bit is from an old blonde joke, as well as other ***orted "stupid people don't understand technology" humor, but it was interesting the way it was played.
I mentioned in another part of the site that I found The Unusuals to be a cross between NYPD Blue and Barney Miller, which does not bode well. Quirky has been overdone now, and even though Amber Tamblyn is always nice to look at, I doubt there are enough fans of hers to expect much of a rise in ratings. So, nice try, but this won't be the cat's meow this time for ABC.
I loved this so much more than I did Southland. It's already on my season p***.
I thought it was good. I especially loved it when they locked the cat thief in the van with a bunch of cats. Hilarious!
In general, I'm not a fan of police dramas and the glut of crime procedurals that are out there. That being said, The Unusuals was very entertaining and unique.
So therefore, like Life on Mars before it, it probably will not attract a large audience and be canceled just as it begins to get really good.
It's quirky and I really like it. Unfortunately most shows that I like and are quirky get cancelled. sigh.
I really liked this show but i'm not getting too excited since it will be pulled soon like anyother new show
This was an awesome show. Great acting and I love that it is not a serious police drama like all the others on now. It is like NYPD meets the office. I look forward to more episodes.
Um by the way, the writers from the Unusuals, bit that lie detector thing from the first episode of season 5 of The Wire, undoubtedly the best cop drama ever (forget NYPD Blue and the Shield.) Aside from that, I was pleasantly surprised by this series. Slightly campy but it doesn't take itself too seriously.
