Take your first look at the 'Friday Night Lights' finale...

Taylorkitsch In honor of tonight's "Friday Night Lights" season finale, I think we should talk for five seconds about how good "Friday Night Lights" is.

"Friday Night Lights" is so good, it makes grown men weep... don't lie, you know it's true.

"Friday Night Lights" is so good that it's come back from the dead a few times now, as it's turned formerly heartless network executives into TV fans that fight to renew a show that's just not doing well (by normal standards).

"Friday Night Lights" is so good that any fool who's not already watching it is just not getting the most out of life, am I right?

I'm totally right.

How fantastic was last week's episode? Riggins walking onto the field and leaving his cleats after the State Championship football game? The last high school football game he'll ever play. Hmmm?

And how about Tyra's college essay/monologue voice over deal?

On any other series? Cheesy. But on "FNL"? Phenomenal.

It's been quite some time since I saw the show's season finale, which airs tonight -- I watched it way back when it was on DirecTV -- but if I remember correctly, the episode opens up several months after the State Championship and the seniors are super close to graduation.

Riggs and Lyla are still set to go to San Antonio State, Saracen's signed up for art school in Chicago and Tyra's heading up the bitter-party-of-one committee (she's been differed from everywhere she applied). Anyway, all the future plans I've just mentioned become storylines this week, and you may be a bit surprised by the way each story ends up.

Meanwhile, someone's pregnant -- did you know that already? -- someone's opening a new business and someone's on the brink of losing their job.

Yes, J.D. McCoy's pop is threatening to get Coach Taylor fired if he doesn't agree to start giving the McCoys whatever they want on the field. So, you know, you can probably guess where that argument goes. And Coach T's position is most definitely in danger.

Be smart, watch tonight. Will you? Please?
