'Kyle XY': Will fans ever get resolution? Movie, webisodes are not in the works

Mattdallas_kirstenprout_jaimealexander Is Cassidy really Kyle's brother? Would Kyle have chosen Amanda over Jessi in the end? These are just a couple of the questions left looming after last night's "Kyle XY" season finale... a season finale which is now the series' ender.

Though we've known since early February that the show would not return for a fifth year, "Kyle XY" producers were not given the chance to write a proper ending to the sci fi saga, instead closing yesterday's final hour with more than one cliffhanger.

A source close to the show tells me this past season of "Kyle" was filmed and finished long before ABC Family knew they were going to cancel the series. Declining ratings coupled with the unexpected success of network newcomer "Secret Life of the American Teenager" ultimately put the nail in "Kyle"'s coffin, but that decision didn't come down until several months after season four -- cliffhangers and all -- was in the can.

So will the network and producers team up on a "Kyle XY" TV movie or maybe a few webisodes to bring loyal viewers the closure they need? Insiders tell me, no. There is no plan to do so as of now. Though there was initially some talk of the possibilities, the chatter died down as "Kyle"'s ratings further declined over the last month or so.

ABC Family is not completely ignoring the remaining fans' call for resolution however. I'm told that an interview with the show's co-executive producer Julie Plec, addressing some of "Kyle"'s unanswered questions, will be posted online later today. Those interested can visit www.abcfamily.com or www.KyleXY.com for what will likely be the last word on the series.

So, you pissed off? Let's discuss...

The further declining ratings was likely due to fans like myself finding out there would be no resolution and gave ABC Fam what they wanted - no viewers in that timeslot - just earlier. An interview on the website is the lamest of the lame way to resolve it. ABC Fam no longer has anything I will watch. That sitcom they are promoting the frack out of and taking Kyle's spot - looks like complete dreck. Oh well, I'm sure they will get sold again- they've been Family Channel, Fox Family, - maybe they can be PAX Family next.

I am very disappointed in ABC Family. I watch Kyle from the begining and it just stopped. If they would have left it in the orginal time slot and not had such an irregalur schedule, maybe more people would still be watching it. Networks move around shows and take them off and put them back on all the time. People don't know when the shows on, and miss episodes so they stop watching shows. If the show is doing good leave it in the timeslot.

while it is disappointing about the details of the Plec interview the show is still worth saving. Remember story line can change and that these are her resolutions now.

There is still a campaign for some real closure going on at kylexy.net. To the author of this blog it would help us out if you mention there is still a campaign going on.

the fact that they put it on ABC main network at got some 5 million viewers tells me there was an audience for it just need to find the right network? SCI-FI? USA characters... Kyle and Jessie definitely fit that bill.

perhaps if the show didn't completely suck, i'd sympathize. when kyle cured the brother's girlfriend's cancer with a hug, the show jumped the shark, entering into a whole new realm of ridiculousness.

All I know is that if ABC wanted to they could of gotten Disney or Some other network to help pay for the production of the show just enough to pay for not having a Cliff Hanger like that. I don't like how they are showing off being a Pregnant Teenager with all the glory. They seem to have lost there moral comp***es and I will not support it. I for one though Kyle XY was more moral than the "Secret Life" and that was the only thing keeping me to ABCFAMILY. I guess fate will have to step in and determine what happens to ABCFAMILY. Maybe that will be the best thing to be sold to PAX, they would have to bring back KYLE XY and kill the Secret life!! ;) Ahh Well, I can dream.

My wife and I watched for a couple of seasons, but this season it became nothing more than a teenage soap opera. I almost felt embarr***ed to watch it. Kyle's moody little girlfriend, moody Jessie, moody sister. Gads, I'm just glad they don't live in my neighborhood.

Well I do not know if ABC reads this, but I now have no reason to view their channel. Kyle was a more stimulating and mature type of show then what replaced them. This just shows there are more kids in the world then adults watching T.V. Hopefully SCIFI channel will pick up and run with the series.

Yes I am ****ed off.

My family was thoroughly upset by the series finale last night. We expected SOME closure (at least Kyle and Amanda getting back together), and we felt like we got none.

IF ABC had a shred of respectability, they would have allowed the producers of the show to at least re-film parts of the episode to allow for a conclusion. Instead, they showed how they feel about the fans -- they don't care.

Well they put the nail in the coffin for me watching anything on ABC or ABC family. I realize cancelling shoes happens but to leave all the loyal fans of this show on a cliffhanger is not fair
