"It's fine to be artistic, just not on this show." Ha! So Simon Cowell freely admits what I've always felt about American Idol. But his willingness to concede the show's lack of artistic merit actually makes me like AI a little bit more. As long as it's not pretending to be something it's not, I guess we're cool. Plus, there were more than a few performances on last night's show that displayed solid talent. And giving solid talent a national stage is always good, right?
So, based on what we've seen so far, I'd say American Idol's season 8 finalists will be Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds. If you take personality, natural ability and stage presence into account, these are the three contestants that killed it last night. Danny Gokey is my alternate.

I don't think Allison is gonna make it to the finals, based on what we seen so far. As for Lil Rounds and Adam, I think they will go pretty far. I still think it is too soon to tell who will win. There are some dark horses out there like Matt and Alexis who might end up going far as well.
I really like Jorge and Anoop, it will be sad to see them go.

Are you guys kidding? Danny is by FAR miles ahead of the pack, yes Adam puts on a good show, him and his schreechy thing. But Danny makes EVERYTHING sound good, I'd bet the farm on this one. Adam to win. Any takers? and BTW - someone please put Anoop out of his misery.
