TwitterBreaking: Mischa Barton passes 'Melrose' by, opts for model 'Life'
Though former "O.C." resident Mischa Barton will not join the cast of The CW's "Melrose Place" remake, she will be working for the network.
Seems The CW ultimately decided she was better suited for the Ashton Kutcher-produced, one-hour pilot "A Beautiful Life," which follows a group of young models living and partying together in New York City.
I'm told her character, Sonja, will be one of the veteran catwalkers who is desperately trying to stay on top of her game. Ah, yes, Mischa Barton, all washed up at 23.
While "A Beautiful Life" will be set in the world of high fashion, Barton has used her celebrity to dabble at modeling herself, notably for Dooney & Burke during her "OC" days.
So, thoughts? Good move on The CW's part? Would your rather see her in this role than on "Melrose"?

mischa as a lead of a show, she can't carry a show and can't act, i bet they fire her in the first season
Wow, sounds like an awesome show. I guess Mischa is in need of work since the movie career never really happened. Hmmmm, how soon before there are reports of her being difficult.
I guess it has to be picked up first, which will probably happen since it sounds like a show worthy of an emmy.
I was totally looking forward to the Melrose remake until I heard that she might join the cast. This is great news! Now I can watch the show without have to watch Misha "act".
Let's see ... she'll be playing a young girl living and playing in NYC?? That shouldn't be too difficult for her ... its not to far off from her real life is it??
P.S. ... thank god she won't be on Melrose. Of course, I could completely do without ever seeing her again ... period.
why is everyone so hard on Mischa? let the girl be. this is great casting.
Didn't she live in London for a while and take acting lessons? Maybe her acting has improved. I'll be giving the show a chance.

okay y does every one hate mischa. i mean shes not that bad of an actress yes i also hated her in OC 3rd season but that was because the writers really screwed her character ...and i remember really liking her in the first season....well pre oliver atleast!!!
definitly the wrong decision - she's not a model and she's not an actress.
I never understood why people hated Mischa so much. The new show sounds good for her. The acting on Melrose is not going to be good, Ashlee Simpson?!?!?! I might as well be in it, I probably have more experience from high school.
