Breaking: 'L Word' Spin Off to Take Place in Prison

Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) is going to prison, people. Showtime President Robert Greenblatt has just announced that The L Word spin off -- which we first heard about last year -- will center around the character of Alice and her future incarceration. The pilot, co-starring Famke Janssen, Laurie Metcalf and Melissa Leo, has been shot, though Showtime has yet to see it cut together. They will make a decision on whether or not to greenlight the series -- which they say could be described as a female Oz, though not quite as dark -- in the next couple months (more details here).

Breaking? This news has been around (or maybe the rumour) for a while. Kind of gives away the ending of the murder mystery they are setting up for this season... Unless Alice was framed!!

i guess i haven't kept up with L Word spoilers... but anyway, now you know it's for sure... and yeah, it does implicate Alice, doesn't it? Ilene just said that that storyline depends on whether or not the spin off gets picked up.

Why would Alice be in jail? I HATE when writers do this kind of crap. This show has really gone downhill fast. Well, not so fast since it is only on for 3 months a year!

Hmmm....so ANOTHER show about women behind bars? What happened to the US Remake of BAD GIRLS with Alan Ball attached for HBO? Will it be a race to see who gets on the air first?

This news is as old as my gramps slippers. What the frikin frack? The only good piece of news out of this is that Leisha Hailey is attached to the project. At least she can act. When I first heard about this project, I thought for sure it would be written for Jennifer Beals, that over ripe, over rated, over the hill crying machine. Good for Leisha.

We are all ***uming Alice GOES to jail .... maybe she works there in some way shape or form .... or she's writing a book on the ins and outs of prison. Who knows?
