TwitterWhitney Port Hangs with Hipsters & Posers on Tonight's 'The City' Premiere
Whitney Port's Hills spin off The City premieres tonight at 10 with two back-to-back episodes and I predict that it'll be our new guilty obsession... despite the fact that Whit's calm, cool personality could be considered kind of boring. The producers are good at what they do and I think they've surrounded her with a couple pieces of work to keep us interested. Namely her co-worker, Olivia Palermo, a "New York City socialite with an A-list lifestyle," who I'd simply describe as obnoxious and annoying -- though I've only seen a few scenes with her, so perhaps I'm being hasty in my judgement... probably not.
Anyway, I guess there will be some decent drama this evening. Whitney's dating that Australian musician dude, Jay Lyon, who seems sweet, but wants nothing to do with Whit's Diane Von Furstenberg work friends. After seeing footage of Olivia, I think that actually scores Jay huge points, but apparently there are other issues. Someone's going to warn Whit that Jay can't be trusted. Could it be the model, Alex, who Whitney ditched for Jay a few weeks back on The Hills? That's what I'm thinking.
We'll also meet W.P.'s new roommate tonight, who seems cool, and Jay's roommate as well, who's got drama of his own. So, you know, the jury's still out on whether or not Whitney's spin off will be worth watching all season, but I'm thinking yes.

And sort of off the subject, but did anyone else notice the look on Lauren Conrad's face on last week's Hills After Show, when Jessi and Dan mentioned that Whitney's now being dubbed the new Carrie Bradshaw? Ha. It's definitely worth a second look if not...

I know the Hills is fake, but this show already seems WAY faker. At least the Hills people actually live in LA. Does anyone really believe Whitney actually moved to NY? I think it's pretty clear she was only there temporarily for the show. I mean, even her "going away party" on the Hills took place AFTER she'd supposedly moved. As Elaine Benes says, "fake, fake, fake, fake!"
Korbi I love that your referencing our little After Show (hope they do one for The City too!)...I am definitely going to go back and view that clip.
I will be watching tonight and pulling for Whitney...she's just too darn sweet not too!!

Oh you Hills haters...when will you learn? People know it's fake and they still tune in. The City seems pretty genuine for now. Olivia could never fake being the See You Next Tuesday that she is. Jay is def a player,why is he a cast member? Well,I watched both episodes and I am hooked. Love Whitney's roomie...she seems to be loads of fun. Bromance...yawn. Hope it gets the boot soon.
Shamefully I watched Bromance...more shamefully I just may tune in again to the sleazefest that it is sure to be!
Liked The City...didn't love it. And I liked Erin (Whitney's roommate) almost as much as I disliked Olivia!
Oh ilove the hills ! I dont care what anyone says, whitney port is definitely the realest out of all of the individuals on the show. She is actually opening her new fashion line, she got noticed from some big "todo" designer. I watched both episodes of the City and feel that it is one of the BEST shows that MTV has put out in years.
