So... 'HIMYM's' Cobie Smulders Is With Child, Is It Ted's?
Sorry, that headline was just my way of tricking you into reading this post. I mean, How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders and her actor boyfriend, Taran Killam, are indeed expecting. People.com went public with the happy news earlier this morning. However, I have no idea if Cobie's real-life pregnancy (or the pregnancy of HIMYM's other leading lady, Alyson Hannigan) will affect the show's storylines. I did shoot an inquisitive email off to executive producer Carter Bays a bit ago, but I told him I wasn't counting on an informative reply, as I felt kind of dirty prying over something that has to do with the ladies' personal lives. However, since their growing tummies could potentially change the course of the series, that sort of makes this story my territory, no? What do you guys think? Should Robin get knocked up by Ted or Barney? We have heard that she and Ted will resume a sexual relationship in the near future, and since she's recently admitted that she's no longer anti-offspring...
Anyhoo, I'll let you kids debate the possibilities. I'm just thankful today that we can even talk of such things. In fact, there are several TV blessings to be grateful for, from possible on-screen progeny to the impending return of some of my absolute favorite shows. This Thanksgiving, I'm givin' it up for Big Love's January 11th premiere date, Friday Night Light's NBC homecoming (this season is so kick ass, I'm excited for the masses to see it), Mad Men and 30 Rock's Emmy wins (yes, still thrilled about this, 'cause it's a beautiful thing to see shows rewarded for their content, despite their ratings)... but most of all, this year, I'm thankful for you guys, the readers of KTV. This operation has been up and running for almost seven months now, and it's because of your passion for all things small-screen that we've enjoyed success. So thank you for supporting KTV and for commenting like champions and keeping me on my toes (aka awake at night filled with anxiety... kidding) 24/7.
Let's continue that action today. Tell me what TV-related things you're most thankful for this year. I'm quite curious to hear...

I'm thankful for Lost coming back FINALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
It would be the best twist, story-wise if Barney knocked her up!
Whatever they choose to do though please please please don't let her have Ted's kid! They just don't work together.
How do all these actresses get pregnant?
Are they planned pregnancies? I hope so. If Hollywood is actually filled with a bunch of actresses that know very little about birth control, then that's just plain sad.
I'm not trying to be judgmental here. I just know what an actresses pregnancy does to the short term storyline of the TV show they are on and to an actresses career.
Wow, I am going to ignore the judgemental crazyness of the above post here... I don't think it is anyone's business how or why these actresses get pregnant, but I do how how it will affect my favorite shows...
I hope they write in the Lilly pregnancy, because that one makes sense. Marshall and Lilly have been mulling it over for a while now and I think it would be a funny addition to the show. But not the Robin pregnancy. It is ridiculous to think that her having a baby would add anything to the show. I eventually want Robin and Barney together, despite reports of Ted and Robin hooking up again in the future, so she should get pregnant!
no, Just Wondering, i wonder that too. maybe they r planned pregnancies. either that, or they r just takin their chances with the pull out method... and when the pull out method fails, they're like, aight... baby on the way... whatever, i'm rich, so no big deal.
oh and btw, congratulations Cobie and bf of Cobie!
I think there's something in the water on the HIMYM set.
Anyone feel bad for Josh, Jason, and Neil who have to deal with their pregnant co-stars?
Congratulations to Cobie! I can't wait until she and Alyson have their babies.
Based on Monday night's show, I think it was me!
I hope the show doesn't try to make a bigger point of it. This past week, in an otherwise stellar episode, they had a male character calling Robin a slut repeatedly for a one night stand, even though the Barney character sleeps around like crazy and is never chastised in such a harsh way.
And then the previous week they implied that women in their late 20s who go out on the town with their female friends to have a fun night are all secretly jealous of their coupled female friends and only desire to have babies.
I hope they don't take such a backwards view of Cobie's character's pregnancy.
I'm with Mandy in that I hope that they do write Alyson's pregnancy into the storyline (and it appears as they are with the Marshall/Lilly baby storyline). I thought I read it on here (Zap2It - maybe it wasn't a Korbi column though) that it was being written onto the show.
