Happy Halloween and happy Friday. Figured I'd tackle a few of your True Blood questions today, since some of you seem to be fiending for answers...

Lizzycaplan Why do I recognize Jason's new girlfriend Amy on True Blood? She's so familiar. Is she sticking around? -Marla
Jason's new girlfriend is played by Lizzy Caplan who you may recognize from a number of things. She was in Cloverfield (Marlena) and Mean Girls (Janis Ian) and has done a ton of TV: The Class, Related, Smallville, Freaks & Geeks. And yes, she's sticking around, at least for the remainder of the season. There are four episodes left, in which she and Jason really get to know each other. I'm hearing J will only go along with her vampire kidnapping for so long.

Ryankwanten Can you talk about True Blood in your column a little bit? You haven't said much about it and it's getting so good. I was really excited to see Stephen Root show up on Sunday. I never would've cast him as a gay vampire, but it worked! Will he stay on the show or will Jason and that girl kill him? -KT
Though everyone -- including Jason! -- thinks or has thought that Jason is capable of murder, he isn't. However, his new lady Amy, she's another story.

Rutinawesley Tara is my favorite True Blood character. Is she going to change and get all nice and complacent now that she's going to that exorcist? That would suck. -Kara
As far as I know, feisty Tara will live on. In fact, I'm told she's got quite a bit of strife to deal with in the next four episodes. Something about a drunk driving accident, jail time and a halfway house that's got hidden dangers.

Annapaquin_stephenmoyer You never cover True Blood in Korbi TV!! You need to start watching it, it's the boooooomb. I need to know who the murderer is. When are we going to find out? -Beth
I've been watching it since episode one, woman. And I agree. True Blood is the best new show of the season as far as I'm concerned... though the competition isn't all that tough. Anyway, I know who the murderer is, but I won't spoil it for you. You'll get a clue at the end of the penultimate ep, and that person will be clearly identified in the season finale. For those who have read the book series, I'm curious, have you known all along who was to blame? Because I was shocked and disappointed when I found out. I really dig this character...

Thanks for covering the show in your column, Korbi! As for the murderer...well, rumor has it the killer won't be the same in the TV show as in the book. How's that for twisty?

well, then, i do believe people will be surprised. i totally was.

In the book I had no idea who the killer was.
I am glad that the show doesn't follow the book to the letter: so far I have been pleasantly surprised.

I read all the books, and if they pick someone to be responsible for the murders who isn't the murderer from the book I'll be HUGELY pissed. Because there are characters who are integral to the series later on.

since we know it isn't going to spoil the show, who is the murderer in the books?

Thanks for covering True Blood! I was a HUGE fan of the books, and now am definitely hooked on the show! The more coverage the better, and I can't wait to see if the killer is the same person as in the books. If they change it, I can't even begin to speculate on who it could be!

I really wanted to like this show, but I just couldn't. It's very cheesy and I don't really buy any of the actors in the rolls they're playing. I'm disappointed, because I love Alan Ball and Anna Paquin, not to mention my huge love for the paranormal in television, but this show just isn't working for me. I watched the first four episodes and I just don't care about any of the characters or who the murderer might be.

In my opinion, the best new show of the season so far (and it's not even close) is Life on Mars. I've been totally sucked (no pun intended considering this is a Vampire show thread) in by it.

I'm on the edge of my seat even though I've read the books. Now I'm REALLY on the edge if they're changing the murderer!

Rene is the killer in the book

Joe B | Nov 3, 2008 4:30:30 PM | #

On the show, I think the killer is the guy who helps out at the restaurant - I can't think of his name. This is the guy who cried at Adele's funeral and hugged Bill after his talk at the church.

I keep watching True Blood hoping it'll get better. I read all the books and loved them. The tv incarnation though...meh. They make Sookie out to be a dumb hick and I can't stand Tara and Jason's beefed up roles in the show. That and in the books I loved Sam. TV show Sam..ugh. If they change the murderer from who it is in the book to someone else I'm done with this show.

I was just discussing this with another Sookie series book lover -- yes, you know who the killer is if you've read the first book, but watching the series while knowing that is tough in a way because the character is so likeable! The killer is barely a blip in the book, but I think Alan Ball intentionally made him/her so engaging in the series so that it would pack a whallop when their identity as killer is revealed.

Does anyone know who does the theme song?

lostalias | Nov 5, 2008 9:05:16 PM | #

I don't know if you plan to check back lostalias, but the True Blood theme songs is "Bad Things" by Jace Everett. I recently bought the single at iTunes, and it is actually listed as the True Blood Theme Song there.

Finally checked back and THANK YOU. :) Much appreciate the info. The theme song is the best thing about the show for me. If a tv series or movie can keep the spirit of a book alive I'm willing to tune in however this show is so off from the books I just can't get passed it. Sookie shrieks way too much.

I watch the replays over to see if I miss something. I am on the edge of my chair to see the last 2 shows. I hope that they continue
