Exclusive: Courteney Cox & 'Scrubs'' Bill Lawrence Team Up For 'Cougar Town'
Seems Courteney Cox's guest arc on Scrubs -- which will air on ABC early next year -- went quite well. Creator and exec producer Bill Lawrence was so pleased with her performance and on-set attitude that the two are teaming up again. Sources tell me exclusively that the former Friend will star in a single- camera comedy pilot for the alphabet net, tentatively titled Cougar Town, chronicling the day-to-day exploits of a hot single mother in her 40s whose social life is in high gear. Word is, Lawrence dreamed up the concept
specifically for Cox and is currently writing the first episode.
So, thoughts?! I couldn't be more psyched to see where this goes. Bill Lawrence is the man and I've been a fan of Courteney's since she was Alex P. Keaton's lady, Lauren, back in the day. You too, yeah?

I'm thrilled.
Scrubs is my grown up version of Boy Meets World.
Both define that inner spirit of a man wrestling with who he is.
Great news!
Could be good, but personally I'm sick of the word "cougar."
I agree with Billiam.
This project sounds great...I hope it gets off the ground smoothly and that the whole is a great sum up of it's parts!
"The New Adventures of Old Courteney?" I hope the title changes and that Lawrence avoids the clichés suggested by "Cougar Town." I haven't been a fan of Cox's since she was Keaton's gf but like Scrubs, so...
Wouldn't "Botoxiapolis" be a more apt title? And the whole "Cougar" term is as out as lower back tattoos and thong straps w/ jeans.
I've been a fan of Courtney alll along. I think she deserved an Emmy many times for her perfect Monica. Her looks have matured, and she still looks great. I figure she must have a real sense of humor since she's married to David Arquette!
I, too, am sick of 'cougar' references. Old is a state of mind--not just looks.
Cougar is really tired, poor Anne Bancroft being blamed for a million lame sexist and agist jokes. Wonder how long before the Jennifer Anniston lesbian kiss guest spot? I do hope her stint on "Scrubs" goes much better than this sounds. Courtney was always underrated on "Friends" but her choices like the rest of the cast have been spotty since then.
"Cougar Town?" Wow. The title is such an insult. It is bad enough that the label has wormed its way into our language, but, now to title a show using such a degrading term?
This is a great idea! Who cares about the name, but I'm excited to see a Cox-Lawrence team up. All the bad shows this season, we need something watchable.
