'30 Rock' Premieres Tonight... Please Watch
It's a big day, people. Whether you're carving pumpkins on Halloween eve or protecting your home from the perils of Devil's Night -- sorry, that's a Detroit reference -- please don't forget to tune your TV to NBC at 9:30 p.m. because 30 Rock premieres this evening. It's on right after The Office and, you know, even if you've already peeped the episode online, just leave your set on while Liz Lemon and her merry band of misfits do their thing tonight. The Emmy-winning comedy needs your vote of confidence. Or rather, the network it airs on needs to see numbers, so support!
I just re-watched this evening's half hour premiere and have to admit that it's even funnier the second time. Megan Mullally is out of control as an adoption agent, judging Liz and her ridiculous life, and while I'd like to tell you that Lemon will come one step closer to being a mommy tonight, I cannot. There is, however, some good news. Jack Donaghy is free and clear from that stupid government job and back at GE... in the mail room. The man is not proud. In fact, he'll stoop quite low tonight in an effort to win his high-ranking position back from girly-man Devon Banks (Will Arnett). I won't spoil anything, I'll simply say, the plan of action involves Jack's "swimsuit area" and that mousy mute, Cathy Geiss...

I saw the 30 Rock premiere last week (gotta love those TV Guide free downloads!), and as a recent convert, I'm glad to see that it doesn't seem like 30 Rock has lost any steam like other shows do in their 2nd and 3rd seasons. I love that they had Megan Mullally as Liz's adoption lady, because she is just so darn funny, but I have to say, I do miss hearing here do the "Karen voice".
Anyhow, the question that I wanted to ask you Korbi, aren't they still using that antiquated Nielson system for ratings, or have the come up with some new way to count who's watching what show?
I know the purpose of this entry is to pimp 30 Rock, but I wanted to comment on the "Devil's Night" reference. In addition to the Detroit reference (for both Oct. 30th and the D12 album) I also ***ociate it with the movie "The Crow" -> the last movie Brandon Lee ever made.
Ok, I watched it...mainly for Megan Mullally and to tell you the truth, she is the only one I enjoyed.....
sorry.
Devil's Night is not just a Detroit reference, Korbi. I grew up in Buffalo, NY and October 30th was (and maybe still is) Devil's Night there too. We always seemed to make a better haul that night than on Halloween itself!
Maybe it wasn't as funny as it usually is, but still good. I loved the part in the park with Jack talking to the mailroom guys and Devin coming out. :)
I grew up in Detroit area as well and still think of October 30th as Devil's Night. But at least 2 shows I have seen in the last couple of days refer to it as Mischeif Night. I wonder if the writers made it up or are actually referring to something real.
It's not funny! That's why nobody watches.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks 30 rock and, I'm sorry am I the only one in america that the office is stupied, it's right up there with sinfieled, people think that is the greatest show every made, to me it's just a bunch of people griping about everthing. Is that the way new york people are?
I'm sorry I don't get 30 Rock, I just don't watch shows spouse to watch, or high ratted. I only watch Earl on Thursday and on Monday CBS Monday only watch Two and half Men. The only like CSI: Mami and NCIS. I like Action/Adventure Sci-fi Programs, guess I'm just strange.
