You Ask, I Answer: 'The Office,' 'B&S,' 'Ugly Betty,' 'Desperate,' 'HIMYM' & More
Read on for my responses to your recent queries regarding The Office, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother and more...
So those Emmy hosts were horrible!! Funniest moment? When Jeremy Piven called them out! -Michael
Agreed. But there were a few other glimpses of greatness. Number one on my list: Every hilarious second that comedy genius Ricky Gervais was on the stage (and down in the audience harassing Steve Carell, for that matter). I was elated when Mad Men took the prize for best drama because it is so deserved. Also loved Tina Fey's acknowledgment of fellow 30 Rock writer Jack Burditt for typing one of the finest lines of last season (never go with a hippie to a second location). Ha! And Amy Poehler's display of her knack for foreign languages was cool too, only 'cause everything that gifted woman does is good. The teaming of the great Kathy Griffin and legend Don Rickles wasn't half bad either. And how 'bout that Macy's commercial?!
Office! Office! Office! Tell me Jim and Pam are still together, because if they are not, I will stop watching the show. Okay, no I won't, but I might cry. -Stephanie
No need for tears or turning the TV off.
Can you give me any Office scoop to tide me over till Thursday? -Kay
Mrs. Bob Vance -- aka Phyllis -- may be pissing Angela off in a major way. If you want to hear more, check back later today for an all-Office item.
Hey Korbi, I know you already said that Mike Delfino will be back for this season of Desperate Housewives and that he and Susan are divorced, but why??? What happened? Don't make me wait until this weekend for answers. -Jill
Mike and Susan's estrangement is the result of a tragedy the two were involved in. Not to worry, we will still see plenty of the plumber. Plus, Susan's new guy, Jackson the house painter (Gale Harold), is pretty likeable.
I'm desperate for some Housewives dirt. Can you deliver? Marc Cherry said Edie's husband is the wild card this season. What's he like? What's he hiding? -AJ
We'll get an idea of the secret Edie's new husband is keeping by the end of Sunday's premiere. Supposedly the seemingly calm and collected inspirational speaker has some serious rage issues.
30 Rock and the amaaaaazing Tina Fey so deserve the accolades they've been awarded. High five to the Emmys for that. -Jason
Indeed! And I cannot wait for the upcoming Oprah episode. A little birdie whispered the plot into my ear and I laughed out loud. Let's just say Liz's interaction with O.W. would not be possible without Jack Donaghy and his fully stocked medicine cabinet.
Brothers & Sisters premieres this weekend, right? What can you tell me? Any scoop? -Sari
Expect major family in-fighting in the first hour. The Walkers will butt heads over a myriad of subjects, but the most difficult issue will be between Kevin and Tommy.
Hey Korbi, I liked your pictures from that pre-Emmy party. Did you get any scoop on Rebecca and Justin from Emily VanCamp? -Jennifer
Be prepared for some make out scenes between the two former siblings in Sunday's premiere.
The best part of fall is all my favorite TV coming back. Mondays are not complete without How I Met Your Mother, but you must tell me, are Ted and Stella really getting married? -Alan
Sarah Chalke is only booked for four episodes as of now. I suspect a serious break up is in store.
Ugly Betty! They left us with a romantic cliffhanger last May and now I'm hearing both Henry and Gio are leaving the show? What's up? -Ali
Yeah, well, you haven't seen the last of Henry and Gio, but both Chris Gorham and Freddy Rodriguez passed on making the Ugly Betty move to New York and that will definitely influence Betty's response to Henry's marriage proposal and Gio's joint travel plans. The good news for those who are pissed to see her love interests go? The new guy, Jesse (played by Val Emmich, the kid who made Liz Lemon a legit cougar last season), is unhateable. He's a struggling musician that lives across the hall from B -- she's getting her own apartment in the city! -- and you might just forget all about the old flames at the first site of his cute face.
So Gio and Henry are leaving Ugly Betty, but what about the coach, Hilda's guy? He's married, so I assume she's getting rid of him too. -Robby
Actually, Eddie Cibrian, who plays Coach Diaz, is sticking around.
Can you say anything about Lindsay Lohan on Ugly Betty? -Marissa
Lindsay actually has several scenes with Betty's pop, Ignacio, but she doesn't seem to be familiar with the whole "respect your elders" concept.
I'm not sure if I should watch Ugly Betty again this season. The whole Wilhelmina takeover thing is wearing on my last nerve... even though Vanessa Williams is awesome. -Cat
Give it a shot. Except for the birth of her Meade baby -- whom Christina is still carrying -- Wilhelmina's Mode takeover is pretty much complete. In fact, she's already given Mode quite the makeover and Daniel's moved on to a new job... which of course means that Betty will too...
You diggin' what you've just digested, or disappointed? Comment below.
Thanks for the scoop! I'm really glad Stella is not "your mother." I just don't think she's that great. I am sorta digging Ausiello's hint that Stella's sister might be YM, because that sorts out the business of the yellow umbrella and the St. Patty's Day party...sorta.
james | Sep 24, 2008 7:44:42 PM | #Why did they even bother building up the Betty/Gio relationship back in May if it wasn't going to carry over to the new season? It wasn't until UB returned after the strike that I really started rooting for Gio, and now the thought of seeing her with a new guy depresses me. At least the coach is sticking around though.
Ashley | Sep 25, 2008 1:44:17 PM | #I feel very, very full after a quadruple helping of scoopilisiousness from The Office (can't wait to read more in the next article), DH (even if it wasn't Carlos related...who doesn't think that the plumber is hot!?!), B&S (Tommy and Kevin strife...hmmm just like in real life?!) and HIMYM!! (which I will sorrily miss next week when I have to start taping Chuck instead!!).
And your take on the Emmys was eerily similiar to mine Korbi...except for not mentioning the classic Josh Groban moment and focusing more on 30 Rock than I would have. Mad Men winning was so cool...as was Probst winning...I got give props to Probst! And Ricky Gervais/Steve Carrell (with a shot of John Stewart not keeping a straight face!) was the best moment of the night!!
Kath | Sep 25, 2008 2:18:41 PM | #Kath, yes, LOOOVED the Josh Groban performance. Never liked Josh Groban better :)
korbi_ghosh | Sep 25, 2008 2:35:59 PM | #I thought the beginning of the show was a TOTAL let down! The first few minute explanation from Betty to let both boys go didn't cut it for me. Even my sister's not so sure that she wants to watch the show anymore. The only parts that make me laugh are when Amanda and Marc are being silly. So why did the producers HAVE to move to NYC?!
Emily | Sep 28, 2008 1:39:57 AM | #I agree with Emily. I was crushed when I saw Betty dump Gio over the most ridiculous reason? She's just not that into him? Yea, right. There was so much chemistry between the two. The writers took the easy way out. They should have either written Gio out earlier or offered the actor a deal of a lifetime to move to NYC. I'm a total Gio girl and I hate this new guy Betty's interested in. It's depressing to watch the show now :(
