Jasonpriestly_jenniegarth_beverlyhi With so many of our favorite former 90210 females -- namely Jennie Garth (pictured left with Jason Priestley), Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty -- signing on to reprise their old 9-0 roles in the CW's spin off of the series, there's been a lot of speculation regarding their romance story lines... especially since the male characters that Kelly, Donna and Brenda dated way back when -- and married, in D Mart's case -- were portrayed by actors who aren't too keen on returning to the old zip code.

Well, I am now hearing that the spin off writers may have found a way to advance those ancient, 90s love stories anyway. Sources tell me West Bev's guidance counselor, Ms. Kelly Taylor, has a four-year-old kid! No word on whether the baby daddy is Brandon or Dylan, but I'm betting it's one of 'em. Still, don't Ryaneggold_90210_240_5 expect to see the girl -- who was once burned in a fire, brainwashed by a cult and big into blow -- pining for her old flames. A romance between Kel and the school's 20-something lacrosse coach, Ryan Matthews (Dirt's Ryan Eggold, pictured right), is brewing instead...

Thoughts on this? Any ideas on how the producers can explain the absence of Donna's hubby David Silver once Tori S. makes her spin off debut?

Any chance of Tiffani Thiessen popping up again? I'd love to see her on-screen with Shannen Doherty since that's obviously a pairing that never happened on the original!

How about not bring back Donna at all and then we don't have to explain David's absence. Sorry for the snark, but while Donna was okay in the earlier years, she drove me CRAZY in the later years, esp. the way she whispered every line like she constantly had laryngitis.
And I liked Eggold on Dirt, but I want Kelly and Dylan to still be together...

Hmmm... in the original 90210, Kelly had a miscarriage and was told that she was unlikely to ever bear a child of her own. Will they just gloss over that plot point or will the child be adopted?

"Unlikely" is not the same as "never." Not to mention all the medical advancements between the original series and now. Wow. We're old.

Can't wait for this show...that dude looks hot so, and now I will reveal just how old I am, "You go, girl!: hahahaha
Hopefully they will at least give a shout-out to the missing men and I don't think Donna will be intregal enough for new fans to care where David is and a throw away line about him "being on business" might satisfy old fans enough...for now!!

I hope Brandon is the father of Kelly's child. They talked about having a family on many occasions. But I don't like the idea of Kelly crushing on Ryan Mathews. Brandon and Kelly should be a happily married couple.

I hope it's Dylan's child!

I really hope this show does well because by bringing back Kelly without Dylan and Donna without David they really taint the episodes leading up to and including the series finale of the original show. I hope David and Donna are still married and that Luke Perry will eventually come back. I have a feeling he'll come back if the show is a hit. I believe the last successful show he was on was 90210 so I am thinking he will be back.

It better be Brandon's child. I want Jason to appear for a Brandon and Kelly reunion. No need for the default couple Dylan and Kelly on this show.

So, when does this debut?

Trish | Jul 30, 2008 1:19:46 PM | #

Even though it would be hard to explain her husband is fighting robots in the future, the easy explanation for Silver's absence would be that his music career was revived and he's touring with Jasper's Law since they had that one hit. Dear God I hope I'm not the first male posting about the new 90210.

September 2nd!

korbi_ghosh | Jul 30, 2008 2:07:36 PM | #

90210 premieres Tuesday, September 2nd with a 2-hour episode on the CW Network!!! Don't miss it!!! The following weeks, it's set to air on Tuesdays from 8 PM-9PM.

Jennie, Shannen, and Tori better get some good screen time - especially together. It would be a downer if the three show up and simply had their separate story lines.

Andy | Jul 30, 2008 3:08:52 PM | #

The ONLY reason I am watching this is because of Kelly Donna and Brenda. So hopefully those three ladies will get me interested in the rest of the cast..they must NOT be underused!

At the end of the original series, Kelly and Dylan were coupled off and, apparently, lived happily ever after.

But, imagine this . . .

What if Dylan were the father of Kelly's child and left the blonde to reunite with the brunette???

That could make for a spicy storyline, all the while maintaining the one true love triangle central to the original series--not to mention another bitch-slap-fest between Brenda and Kelly.

Dylan's absence could be explained by having him live in London or New York, the two places where Brenda, in most recent years, has been working.

I, for one, would be thrilled to see that Brenda, after all these years, has managed to reclaim Dylan.

Any thoughts?

David | Jul 30, 2008 9:37:05 PM | #

amen, brutha. those are my thoughts :)

korbi_ghosh | Jul 31, 2008 12:14:02 AM | #

I want Brandon to be the father of Kelly's child, not Dylan. This show isn't about the bermuda triangle, it's about the new kids, so it would be stupid IMO to have that storyline repeated. Brenda and Kelly aren't teenagers anymore, they're supposed to be mature women. They should be friends now. Korbi, any other news or clues about Kelly or Brenda?

Julie | Jul 31, 2008 4:17:31 PM | #

Guess they had to find some way to explain why Kelly's looking heavier. This show is so lame.

BURDMAN: Actually, I wrote a comment on The TV Gal's blog a few weeks ago, and I said Donna could just tell people that David travels a lot for his work [like TIME TRAVELS ;-)]. The writers of 90210 could put in an inside joke and say something vague, like David fights for freedom or protects humanity or something (future robots would seem a bit farfetched for the 90210 spin-off). Anyway, it leaves the door open if Brian Austin Green would ever want to be a guest star.

By the way, there was an interview a few months ago where Tiffani Thiessen said that she had no interest in reprising her role on the new 90210. However, I think if Thiessen were offered more money, she would probably come to do a multi-episode arc, like Shannen Doherty is doing.

Paige | Aug 5, 2008 8:55:05 AM | #

Couldn't they literally just say David is at home or on trips or something? I don't think to needs to be that complicated. Maybe BAG will change his mind and make at least one appearance. Probably not, but it would fun. Still glad to see him on Sarah Conner though.

the kid playing kelly's son is Riley Thomas Stewart.

Mel Silver | Sep 3, 2008 1:01:52 PM | #
