Quick TV Fix: 'One Tree Hill,' 'Big Love,' an 'O Road' Update and More
Before I sign off for the weekend, I wanted to give you guys a quick TV fix, just for kicks... and also, to let you know that, as promised, I connected with my October Road peeps who confirmed that the conclusion they're planning is still set to run just 15 minutes long, as executive producer Josh Appelbaum originally told me. Sorry for the confusion. A source close to the three e.p.s says that, as of now, the guys are funding this finale out of their own pockets. That is a commendable commitment to their fans, no? So unless someone wants to donate a couple million bucks, I guess we should all be grateful for what we're getting.
Moving on...
New Kid in Town: One Tree Hill's sixth season will soon begin filming and with that comes word of a new character joining the show. I'm told that a 15-year-old foster kid, whom they're calling Samantha, will play a significant role this year. A source says she's a bit of a "Miss Sassy Pants," but will soften in subsequent episodes.
A Mother's Love: My little Big Love birdie tells me somebody's mommy will attempt to take their kid's life this season. The scandalous drama supposedly takes place between a mother and son we know quite well. Also, a main character's mama, whom we've met before, will supposedly kick the bucket.
America's Best Dance Crew: I've just been told that JabbaWockeeZ, the reigning title holders, will be the surprise guest performers tomorrow during the live casting special of Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew season two. The dancing begins at 2 p.m. on MTV.
And if you're looking for another fun hour of TV this weekend, don't be afraid to check out Showtime's finale of This American Life. I know it's not the usual small-screen fare we chat about, but it's a really good show that I wanted to give a quick shout out to. Sunday's episode is about seven men -- all named John Smith -- at different stages of their life. Says host Ira Glass, "It's ambitious and emotional and unlike anything we've ever done." Yes, I screened it, too. Good stuff.

Josh and crew are a cl*** act. They really care about their fans. I appreciate all that they are willing to do for us.
The October Road fans are not giving up on this show. A m***ive mailing and e-mailing is underway for June 10th. I hope ABC follows the lead of Josh and gang and shows they care about and listen to their viewers.
Is it just me or does there seem to be more viewer unrest and unhappiness with canceled shows than at any other time? Do you think it is because of the writers strike?
Thank you Korbi for the update. You always have the most up to date information on this show. I wish a had a couple of million dollars to support October Road
Thanks Korbi for the great update on October Road. As I emailed you before, the fans are not giving up. We have a m***ive letter campaign going on currently to convince ABC to bring back our wonderful show. For details, visit the ABC boards.

I'm sorry to October Road go. Really liked the story and characters. I am indeed grateful for the last 15 minutes.
I am ready for the next season of OTH. The flash forward was a fantastic move that renewed my interest in the show. I just wish Lucas would get married to somebody already and STHU. HAHA!!!
Thanks once again Korbi for always writing about October Road. We all appreciate it so much :)
Josh, Andre, Scott and everyone truly are wonderful people. I think what we all have(the writers, crew, the cast and all of us) is really something special. I think it's so kind of them to want to make sure we all, including them have closure.
With having said that, I am with Deb and Bella, we are not giving up on the show, the writers, crew, the cast and each other. October Road is too important and incredible of a show to let it go.
LONG LIVE OCTOBER ROAD!
can somebody please e mail me and let me know when this 15 minute finale is suppose to be. i love this show and i dont want to see it go. you can bet that abc will be getting an e mail from me!
I'm guessing the foster kid will be living with Brooke?
dang, i was really hoping for an hour of OR. but if ABC aint payin for it, then i guess its better than nothing. i really do not like how ABC has NO faith or respect for october road and its fans.
Korbi,
Thank you so much for the October Road update. I'm so glad that the producers are doing the wrap up, I know they will do a great job and leave all of us loyal fans satisfied. I can't wait!
That is VERY commendable of the exec producers to do that for us fans. They really are a wonderful, talented group.
However, as great as I think the wrap up is, I would prefer to have my favorite show back. October Road really gets into your system after you watch it.
I don't want it to be finished forever. I LOVE OCTOBER ROAD.
And thanks again, Korbi, as always you do a good job.
Thanks, Korbi, I appreciate your October Road update. The confirmation of 15 minutes is indeed bittersweet news but it also came out BEFORE the network is due to receive our latest campaign ***ault. I'm hoping everyone who loves the Road will write at least one letter or postcard, ABC needs to know how much love and support there is out here for this outstanding show. At the ABC upfronts last month Stephen McPherson dismissed us "small core of October Road fans" as though we were only 20 or 30 people. There are many, many more than that who are still fighting for our OR to make a return. And big hugs to the amazing exec producers for what they are doing. That is well above and beyond the call of duty if you ask me and it is little wonder that so many people fell in love with their show.
