Exclusive: '24's' 7th Season To Take Place Roughly Four Years After Season 6

Kiefersutherland_24_240_005 Though it was previously reported that 24's seventh season, set to debut in January of 2009, would take place about a year after season six ended, I am now hearing that a much longer period of time will have passed. According to a source, roughly four years will have gone by since we last saw Jack Bauer, standing on the edge of that cliff and staring out at the ocean. I'm told that Chloe's surprise pregnancy, which we learned of in the season six finale, has matured into a full-fledged three to four-year-old boy, in fact. The kid has not yet been cast, so if you know any young lads who look like a mix of Mary-Lynn Rajskub and baby-daddy Morris (Carlo Rota, yes he's sticking around to take care of the tot), maybe you should send their pic and resume in...

For info on how the producers are dealing with Rajskub's real-life pregnancy, check out yesterday's Quick TV Fix.

According to my handy list of "how many years are claimed to be between each season", 24 Day 7 takes place 13 years after the first season. Yikes, either the world of 24 is on some "closer to the sun" orbit than we are, or it's the FUTURE.

As long as this isn't an excuse to cheat Kim into being President or something ridiculous like that, I'm fine with it :)

24 sucks. It passed it's peak a long time ago. I did not miss it this season, have long pondered the question of how old is Jack Bauer, et cetera and wish they would either cancel the show, be a bit more realistic on the pace of years between seasons or retire Kiefer and add a new actor to the franchise.

Fox missed the boat two seasons back to shift Jack Bauer into a feature film franchise. The novelty of '24' has passed and the longer he remains on television, the greater the ratings will soften with increased competition of quality shows. I like the tragic hero of Jack Bauer but the soap-opera-ish subplots sometimes draw-down the quality of the product and character, such as his family's involvement with the bad guys. That was too silly.

In a feature film franchise, you can utilize the best of '24' concept: the tragic hero who wishes to be an ordinary guy and his escape his extraordinary talents, but the world and his good consciousness won't allow him not to be involved.

Geeeeez SO MANY HATERS. 24 is one of the best shows on TV. Last season kinda sucked, but its been pretty amazing over the long haul. I'm so glad it is comin back.

Agree with KidViscious, there's a nice amount of Haterade being drank. S6 was really bad, especially the middle, but we're still shortly removed from the greatness of S5 and quite honestly they just need better villians like Logan, Nina or Sherri to revive the show, which is now "just" 5 for 6 in delivering good seasons. Also having a dead Milo should help since his character was annoying and Eric Balfour is a massive tool.

Are they still planning a two hour TV movie for this fall?

William Robinson | Jun 19, 2008 3:29:18 PM | #

yep, they are. two hour prequel is scheduled to air in November. if you click on the link to the quick tv fix above, you'll get more info on that :)

Oh my gosh, best line, "Eric Balfour is a massive tool." Thanks Dan! Maybe Jack can make a quick trip to NYC to see Audrey? :)

I love 24 and can hardly wait until it returns!! Thanks to Korbi for the scoop and keeping the fans informed.

Any truth to the rumor the 4-year gap was needed because Kiefer aged so much in prison and the makeup team couldn't fix it?

Jeff | Jun 20, 2008 2:38:13 AM | #

So why do people that think 24 sucks and don't watch it anymore want the show cancelled? The easiest solution would be-Don't watch it if you don't like it.

Keith | Jun 21, 2008 4:25:31 PM | #

I don't know why everyone is hating on 24, It is still one of the best show on TV right now, less reality shows, lets see some good drama.

Nancy | Jun 22, 2008 11:54:32 AM | #

I totally agree with Keith. Hey if you don't like 24 don't watch it. There are others like me who still love it.

Vero | Jul 2, 2008 9:03:15 AM | #

24 is the absolute BEST.
I agree with Kieth as well. If you don't like 24, shut up and go watch your soap opera.
