TV's finest drama doesn't go back into production 'til August, but last night the cast of Friday Night Lights, along with a few writers and friends of the show, gathered at O'Briens Irish Pub in Santa Monica, California for an informal get-together. Why? Because they hadn't seen each other in a while and wanted to toast their third season pick-up.

How did I get invited? Well, I guess I've got friends in low places who know people in high places who were feeling generous. And also, I think Jesus loves me.

Yes, a higher power shined down upon Korbi yesterday, plucked me from sitting in front of my computer screen and placed me at an Irish Pub where Minka Kelly's gorgeous mug greeted me as I bounced in. She smiled so sweetly that I really had to restrain myself from being the creepy stranger who tries to hug her. It was hard. It's probably a very good thing that my imaginary boyfriends Timmy Riggins and Matt Saracen (also known to some as Taylor Kitsch and Zach Gilford) didn't show, because I might've lost all sense of decorum had they walked in the door.

Still, there was no shortage of foxy faces with Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Aimee Teegarden and the boys who play Herc (Kevin Rankin), Billy Riggins (Derek Phillips) and Glenn the temp guidance counselor (Steven Walters) hanging out. Plus, show runner Jason Katims and creator/"guy who Coach T punched in the face" Peter Berg were there too. I did muster the balls to walk up to the two of them and bid them congratulations, and found out that the writers are already four weeks into breaking stories for season three. Ef yeah!

In case you didn't know, the third season will premiere exclusively on DirecTV this Fall, so if you ain't a DTV customer currently, you need to start thinking 'bout becoming one. For this series, impeccably written and beautifully acted, it's seriously worth it.

I am sick! I am from Houston but was in Santa Monica from Wednesday to today, when I read this. We stayed at at a hotel literally around the block, I even saw this place and thought about going in for a drink. Life is not fair!

no worries, yes, FNL will air on NBC mid-season, so everyone will get to see it... not much to report from the party. Connie and Kyle hung together most of the time. Minka was making the rounds. Katims and Berg were at the bar together. Everyone seemed to be in a really good mood and happy to see each other...
