Barney Is Britney Spears' New Man on 'How I Met Your Mother'
Starbucks' biggest fan, the one and only Brit Brit Spears (pictured left, with Neil Patrick Harris), returns to How I Met Your Mother on Monday. Her character Abby, spurned by Ted in her debut episode of the series, will team with Barney this week to flaunt a fake relationship with him in Ted's face.
Word is the Barnana will suspend his playa ways -- for a very short period of time -- to show his ex-bro that he is capable of change. Rumor has it, a public marriage proposal may even be in the works.
I'm told that Neil, who has been wary of stunt casting and the media circus that Britney's guest role originally brought on, welcomed her with open arms this week, saying "It's been great. Good times. Britney was relaxed and playful. She gave lots of choices, even improvised a bit. I suspect it'll be quite the funny episode."
Your thoughts on Britney's reprisal of her HIMYM role? Should the producers keep the door open for her to return once again?
I thought Britney Spears was quite bad in first episode. "HIMYM" is a good show with a strong cast, so there's really no reason to keep bringing someone back who people only want to see for the ongoing car crash value.
Joy | May 8, 2008 2:35:34 PM | #Joy, harsh much? So she's not an experienced actress, she was still fun on that episode.
Michael | May 8, 2008 2:50:45 PM | #I thought she was good. But I don't care if she's around or not.
Beth | May 8, 2008 3:07:12 PM | #The first time I watch HIMYM was the to see Britney and Sarah Chalke, who I LOVE. I ended up getting hooked on the show. I thought Britney was cute the first time, and I am looking forward to seeing more of her. I don't think she should be a regular or anything, but I don't think she is doing the show any harm.
Shay | May 8, 2008 3:16:58 PM | #I love this show and would watch it with or without Britney Spears. But if casting her helps to garner more rating for this completely awesome, not yet renewed show, then I am happy to see her on.
Mandy | May 8, 2008 3:22:41 PM | #She was alright. I think a website said it best when it said her performance was more about her redeeming herself than acting. Maybe this time it can be more about the acting than making herself look better.
Alicia | May 8, 2008 3:31:44 PM | #I thought Britney did great. The show obviously doesn't need her (or maybe it does from a ratings perspective, not sure), but I certainly did't mind watching her on it.
rock | May 8, 2008 4:21:54 PM | #I thought she did very well, she plays kooky great, go figure. Ratings are up since she was on and they need the boost.
C | May 9, 2008 5:19:54 AM | #If her being there is a part of the rumor I saw on the TV Guide channel last night (that yes, they are renewing the show for next year) then bring on more Brit!
Brett | May 9, 2008 5:37:45 AM | #I think that Miss Spears did a very good job in her role and let's face it, NPH will make anyone look even better, so brign it on! I am really looking forward to this episode not because Britney is coming back but because it will further the relationship complications of Ted and Swarley (and let's face it I look forward to every episode of HIMYM!!!)
Kath (canakaty) | May 9, 2008 7:51:22 AM | #If any one can get Barney to walk (or pretend to walk) down the aisle, it's the Brit! I smell a shot-gun Vegas wedding!
Diana | May 9, 2008 10:18:49 AM | #I'm fine with anything that draws more viewers to the best comedy on TV today. Barney is hilarious and the wirters really know how to keep the laughs coming throughout the episode.
Bill B | May 9, 2008 12:01:08 PM | #SORRY, I WONT WATCH HER..WHY DOES SHE GET SPECIAL TREATMENT? MOST PEOPLE WORK HARD FOR THEIR CAREERS, SHE ACTS LIKE SOME KINDA CRACKHO FOR A YEAR OR 2, THEN EVERYBODY MAKES A FUSS CAUSE SHE WANTS TO ACT NICE AGAIN.
FORGET HER, WHO CARES? NO TALENT BITCH.
Ouch...liz you are pretty harsh on the girl. Sorry your petty jealousy has you spewing the hate. I am not a britney fan, but I commend that fact that she is trying to get her life back together. I think all of the haters need to take a step back and glance in their own mirror. None of us are perfect; her imperfections, her problems just happen to be out there for all the world to see because she has money and fame. Find another forum for your bitter life and let people that enjoy HIMYM chat amongst themselves.
WOW Liz...I guess someone is BITTER. Give the girl a chance. She is doing better. I liked her last time and if it helps keep HIMYM another season then so be it. She was funny and Im sure tonight she will be funny.
bob | May 12, 2008 7:18:38 AM | #wow Liz... BITTER MUCH!!! keep you small minded comments to yourself and let those who actually like HIMYM enjoy the fact that like her or not, Britney may give our favorite show the ratings surge that network minds are looking for.
