Quick TV Fix: 'Moonlight' News, Plus Dirt on 'Desperate,' 'Bones,' 'Dexter,' '90210' and More

Alexoloughlin_moonlight_240As fervent Moonlight fans prepare the next round of attacks in their war against cancellation -- I'm told supporters have purchased full page ads in the Hollywood Reporter and Variety (scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday respectively) and will march outside Warner Brothers at 2 p.m. on Friday. Numbers are expected to be high as many are in town for the weekend's first annual Moonlight Convention at LAX's Westin Hotel -- the writers on series saved from cancellation continue to sketch together plans for their next season. Keep reading for the scoop I've gleaned so far on Desperate Housewives, Nip/Tuck, Bones, Gossip Girl, Dirty Sexy Money, Dexter, Prison Break and 90210...

Jamesdenton_abcsummertca07_240Not-So-Desperate Husbands: Fans of Desperate Housewives, angered over Mike Delfino's apparent disappearance from Susan's five-years-in-the-future life, need not cry for James Denton. Though the actor has been heard saying that his agent is fielding offers, sources tell me we will no doubt see Delfino again next season. Still, Susan's new man, played by Vanished star Gale Harold, will stick around for quite some time and is expected to be a major part of season five's mystery.

Kateesackhoff_bionicwoman_240Nip/Frak: As you may have already heard, Battlestar Galactica's Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) has been cast as a new doc on Nip/Tuck. Her character, Teddy Lowe, is the lady anesthesiologist I first told you about last week, and she will indeed be a love interest for Sean. Truth be told, producers were looking for a sexy, dark Angelina Jolie-type to take the part, but after seeing Sackhoff, decided the blonde was plenty capable of playing this risk taker who will bring out McNamara's naughty side.

Michaelaconlin_bones_s3_240 Lovely Bones: You know Angela's long-lost hot husband? The one she got hitched to five years ago on a drunken trip to Fiji? His gorgeous face will finally turn up this Fall. Yes, Birimbau, who is being described as beautiful, intelligent, accomplished and highly evolved, will be found. And that divorce Ms. Montenegro's been itching for might actually happen.

Michelletrachtenberg_z_paleyfest08_Gossip Gal: Though viewers said a satisfying "see ya" to Georgina Sparks on last night's Gossip Girl finale, executive producer Stephanie Savage tells me the door is open for Michelle Trachtenberg's return. We may still see that bizatch come back.

Dirty Sexy Mommy: Clare George, the woman who gave birth to Nick, but never wanted to be his caregiver, will show up in New York and set up shop next season. Sources tell me the handsome lady is in her 60s and has been living in Paris since she abandoned Nick three decades ago.

Amaurynolasco_prisonbreak_240_2Prison Breaker: Though we last saw our boy Sucre behind bars, I'm told he'll be out and about in the season premiere.

Miami Metro Manning Up: Shooting on Dexter season three is just about to start, but first, producers must fill a few major new roles, including Joey Quinn, a likeable cop who's recently joined the PD, and Miguel Vega, an up-and-coming ADA. Vega's brother, Ruben, will also join the force. Other significant additions? Miguel's wife Isabel, a young Internal Affairs agent named Yuki Amado, and a sexy, strong African American musician named Anton who we should be seeing quite a bit of.

Ianziering_cherylburke_dancingwit_29021-Old Guy: Ian Ziering (better known to you and me as Steve Sanders) may have just signed a deal to produce and star in his own MySpace series, but that doesn't mean his ties to the old neighborhood have been severed. I saw the smiley guy this Saturday, surrounded by a bevy of beautiful young girls, at Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood, where he told a friend of mine he'd be happy to appear on the CW's 90210 spin off. Any thoughts on his role? I say he shows up as a single dude still trying to score with Kelly Taylor...

Moonlight fans are not afraid to put their money where their mouth is - those ads AND MoonlightCon are all 100% fan funded! Wouldn't the advertisers on CBS rather have seen those thousands of dollars being spend on their products??
Too many great TV shows never find their footing in network television because they are canceled their first year. In order for something to be great it must be nutured, loved, and allowed to run it's creative course -- Moonlight has the potential for unlimited growth given the right circumstances.
The fans will not stop until it gets that chance.

Fans are signing on to Moonlightline and Moonlightfans in droves now that news is getting out about CBS canceling Moonlight. They know they are in this for the long run and spirits seem high. Thanks for your continued support Korbi.

Thanks for the Moonlight info. I still can't believe that CBS canceled it. But we fans certainly have the time, money and energy needed to bring it back. I bet advertisers really wish we were spending money on their products rather than needing to convince another network to bring it back. If only someone would air it and we could do that. . .

Thank you so much for mentioning Moonlight. Fans of Moonlight are going to be heard. We are not going down without a fight because Moonlight is so worth it.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear about Bones! The Angela/Hodgins thing with the old husband was the one storyline that I think wasn't resolved after last night. I know there are other Bones items that were put off due to the strike (Gravedigger, Booth's family, etc), but none that we were invested in seeing this season except this one! Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the news on Moonlight, Korbi. The *march* outside Warner Bros. is really a peaceful support rally, as we want TPTB to see that we are behind them and want to see Moonlight get another season regardless of where it's new home could be.

Hi Korbi! I'm so glad I found you again, forgot to mention that last time I commented. Thanks for the Moonlight attention. We're dedicated and determined, we ML fans. :) You should come to Moonlight Con! It would be great to see you in person.

Allegrita | May 20, 2008 11:22:29 AM | #

I can't imagine DH without Mike Delfino. I hope he's not gone. Maybe he and Edie hooked up since she was gone too. ;-)

Melissa | May 20, 2008 11:25:21 AM | #

Thanks for the Moonlight news. We know that some lucky network is going to pick it up, so we're not giving up on another season. Unfortunately I can't be at the Con this weekend, but I'll be with my fellow vamps in spirit.

Dreamgoddess | May 20, 2008 12:55:48 PM | #

"thanks" for MOONLIGHT news.

As one T.V. Critic put it.
"CBS blew it with this one"

evah | May 20, 2008 12:58:25 PM | #

Korbi, thank-you so much for mentioning Moonlight. This 49 year old can't survive without my sexy vamp on Friday nights. Please, somebody bring back Moonlight!

First, thank you for your article. This fan drive shows you that the current rating system does not even scratch the surface of a show's true fan population. Many people record a show and watch it later, many more do not have DVRs or Nielsen boxes. These fans are watching the advertisers and buying products. Its time the rating system is adapted to give more viewers a voice in what we watch.

I have been an avid fan of Moonlight from day one. The story lines and the chemistry between the main couple Beth and Mick is absolutely electric. I can't remember in recent time a couple as spell binding as this one.

I watched every episode reruns included on TV, I then bought every episode from Amazon.com, I watched the online episodes over and over because you just can't get enough of this cast and stories. I blogged, emailed and called about a show for the first time. I have even gotten a my space account and watched You Tube videos due to Moonlight.

This show is something special. It just needs the right network to advertise it and support it. We fans will do the rest.
