Quick TV Fix: Scoop on 'Moonlight,' 'Bones,' 'Brothers & Sisters,' 'Mad Men' n More

By Korbi Ghosh

May 27, 10:14 AM

Who else has the post-Holiday weekend blues? Hold off on the Prozac. Perhaps we can we cheer ourselves up with a small dose of TV scoop on Moonlight, Bones, Dexter, Brothers & Sisters, Mad Men and Rescue Me...

Alex Moonlight Vigil: Alex O'Loughlin (photo, right) enthusiasts tell me this weekend's MoonlightCon, held here in L.A., was a great success. Die hard fans were more than pleased to welcome Harry Werksman, one of the show's co-executive producers, who said that the Sci-Fi channel is indeed interested in picking Moonlight up. However, talks are still ongoing, and nothing has been determined as of yet. In the meantime, the Moonlight army marches on: Their Saturday auction earned $6,500 for the Los Angeles food bank. Sunday's blood drive sucked in 50 pints of the red stuff and added 37 people to the National Bone Marrow Transplant Program registry.

Jennifercarpenter_michaelchall_dext It's Showtime: The third season of Dexter  will begin shooting shortly, so new fans of the series -- who fell in love with it on CBS earlier this year -- have more than a few months to catch up on season two in the meantime. However, adding Showtime to their cable package (or shelling out cash for the DVDs) is probably going to be a must. Reps at the Eye net tell me CBS has no plans to air Dexter season two or three at this time. Their offering of the first season was simply a freebie during the writer's strike, designed to draw viewers into the pay cable show. FYI, the second season will be available on DVD in mid-August.

Bones_s3_duo_240 Boning?: A little birdie tells me that Bones creator Hart Hanson has concrete plans for us to see Booth and Brennan "in bed together" next season. However, what Mr. Hanson means to imply by "in bed together" is still a bit of a mystery.

Matthewrhys2_brothersandsisters_s_2 Brother Replaces Sister?: Word is Brothers & Sisters' Kitty will step down from her position on McCallister's staff this Fall in favor of publishing a book and concentrating on the couple's adoption process. However, there may still be a very vocal Walker influence on Robert's team. I'm hearing whispers of the Senator offering Kevin a major opportunity.

Christinahendricks_sagawards__240_4Mad Women:
Sexy Joan may have some competition in season two. Sources tell me a 22-year-old named Jane, who bares quite a resemblance to Joan (just younger), will join the show this year. Hey, jealousy!

Rescueme_240 Rescue Him: Crazy Tommy, who's been running into burning buildings dressed as his dead cousin? He will be caught early in the Rescue Me season, and brought up on charges. But I wouldn't count on the FDNY being in a big hurry to get rid of Mr. Gavin.  More RM scoop? Mike, Garrity and Franco will buy a bar this year and attempt to run it together. Also, the writer profiling the crew for a 9-11 retrospective this season will be a sexy, French chick who Lou falls in love with, while Tommy gives her a seriously hard time.

Any word yet on who might be cast as Ryan, the Walkers' long-lost bro? I know some people are campaigning for Gregory Smith, but I can't help but feel that would be too weird. Not to mention retread-ish.

Ryan hasn't been cast, but my sense is that the Greg Smith campaign ain't going anywhere. No one loves Ephram Brown more than me, but I agree, TOO WEIRD.

That's great news about Moonlight!! I do hope that the SciFi channel picks it up. They won't regret it!

No offense Korbi, but your blog is kind of a scam.

When you claim to offer "scoops, spoilers and breaking news" it would be nice if you actually did some of that. Instead you merely aggregate "scoops, spoilers and breaking news" that have already been scooped, spolied and broken by other websites and trade papers. Not cool.

It would also be nice to credit the original source of the information you re-write and re-report. That way the people with genuine industry connections and true journalistic credentials could get a little love for their hard work.

It's obvious you are a TV fan but anyone can scan the trades and gossip rags and do what you do. That doesn't make it right.

Wow, Thanks for posting about Moonlight! We, the fans, appreciate it. This show definitely deserves a 2nd season and I hope SciFi has the foresight to see what a great idea it would be to pick it up. I'm sure they would be happy when 8 million fans followed!

Angela | May 27, 2008 12:01:06 PM | #

Holy crap, Ron, do you have a few issues going on there or what? How do you know Korbi isn't getting her info from the same place as the "people with genuine industry connections and true journalistic credentials"? Plus is you're so disgusted by her blog, why are you reading it? Go away, Ron, and leave the comments section for the rest of us who enjoy Korbi's blog.

Korbi, I for one, thank you for all the information you provide. I know I don't have to scan all "the trades and gossip rags" because I can get all of the accurate info I want right here.

Tracey | May 27, 2008 12:05:16 PM | #

Exactly what stuff are you talking about, Ron? All this stuff is news to me. That's why I've added Korbi to my regular rotation with Ausiello.

Michelle | May 27, 2008 12:09:37 PM | #

Korbi, I too would like the news on the new Walker sib whenever you get it (I'm still kind of hoping for a sister named Ryan - it's become a non-specific name gender-wise as of late and they did think the original baby pic was a girl - Rebecca. So why not? But, if we're casting a brother, I'm hoping for Ryan Sypek!

AndreaC | May 27, 2008 12:44:49 PM | #

Moonlight fans are still fighting for their show, that's great news! I hope they will get what they want and we'll see another season of Moonlight!

Sarah L. | May 27, 2008 12:53:13 PM | #

Thanks for mentioning Moonlight. I really hope that another network can cash in on CBS's mistake.

Caroline | May 27, 2008 12:54:32 PM | #

Ronald H. - Jealous much? Who do you work for, TV Guide or E!online? If you are going to hate on people, provide specific examples to back up your accusations. Korbi has provided tons of original content. Have you not read any of her interviews? You can't get more firsthand than that.

Do you have *any* info regarding NBC's "Life" in terms of what to expect in the new season, any new casting, etc.? It was the only new series that I actually enjoyed. Hopefully the awful writer's strike didn't totally destroy the momentum that the series was beginning to generate.

Tania | May 27, 2008 1:37:26 PM | #

Thanks for keeping everyone updated on the fight for Moonlight. The fan base is growing daily and the roar for more Moonlight will continue.

Elia | May 27, 2008 1:40:20 PM | #

While I didn't find Moonlight remotely entertaining nor engaging, I can certainly understand the emotions from the handful of fans who are unhappy with its cancellation. If the series does come back, the SciFi Channel would be the best fit. The low ratings can probably survive there. Believe me, CBS will not suffer because they got rid of Moonlight no matter how much the fans wish it.

Tania | May 27, 2008 1:47:15 PM | #

Elia, no matter how much you think it looks like that the fan base is growing for Moonlight, it is still a small number. The ratings will reflect it no matter where it goes. Look at Friday Night Lights, that series just doesn't improve in the ratings regardless of where it lands. At least NBC worked on keeping it on for those who watch it (of which I'm certainly not one). ;)

Thanks for the Bones info Korbi (love the little play on words with the show's title!)

I am a diehard BB shipper and I love the fact that they will be in bed together next season. I'm sure it will take place in the two-hour London episode they'll be filming this Summer. Probably nothing will happen (they'll probably have to share a room 'cause the London hotel is full or something like that--typical ruse), but just the idea of BB sharing a bed is fun to think about. Also Hart said BB will have their first "real" kiss in season four, so lots to look forward to for us shippers!

I am also happy for the Moonlight fans; the show wasn't to my taste, but I know how it feels to have your show cancelled, and if they can bring it to the Sci Fi channel, that would be great for the fans. They deserve a lot of credit for all the stuff they are doing to save their show and donate to the community at the same time.

KORBI-stop posting idiotic posts and getting these losers hopes up. Even you know Moonlight was a bad show that had to go. Let's see, with such good shows as Eureka,Battlestar,Dr.who-and the like-who would expect this channel to pick up this bit of CBS shclock?-Well they do herald saturday night as the scariest night of t.v. on this network so yeah-maybe this could work(WINK-WINK).

david s. | May 27, 2008 2:35:36 PM | #

In the words of DR.SMITH-Indeed,oh the pain, the pain. Campaign for a bit of old school sci-fi done in the new school way 9(LOST IN SPACE)-an out there dr.smith and all and I mean OUT there. Now there's a cause to take-up; Who'll join me? Hullooo-.

david s. | May 27, 2008 2:40:00 PM | #

Hey, what's that 9 about? Ask jj abrams.

david s. | May 27, 2008 2:41:43 PM | #

Korbi is a fantastic source for breaking TV news. Her sources can't always be named but that doesn't mean they're not authentic. Korbi is a TV insider who knows her stuff. If you're not a fan, then that's ok - your prerogative, but no need to bash when it's not warranted.

K.S. | May 27, 2008 3:57:02 PM | #

Wow, lots of trolls around here today. It's great to hear news about Moonlight, though I hope Sci Fi wouldn't just pick up rerunning old episodes, as they often do. It's pretty funny the poster saying Moonlight isn't up to the quality of other Sci Fi shows. While I agree the series he named are all excellent, have you seen some of those Sci Fi original movies? They are truly horrible and made on the cheap.

Marie | May 27, 2008 7:35:59 PM | #

Hey Dexter fans - read the books by Jeff Lindsay, they are great and go off in some wild directions from the TV show.

Steve77 | May 27, 2008 10:22:45 PM | #

Season 2 of Dexter is already available on iTunes (and elsewhere for free if you want to go the less scrupulous route).

Oh please Tania, I have yet to meet anyone who watches TV who actually has a Neilsen box which in this day and age surely needs to be pensioned off as the sole provider of counting who is watching which TV show. I don't believe it is as accurate as it used to be since many more people are watching online as well as on the TV. I suspect that the demographic of people who have Nielsen boxes are not the ones who are watching shows like Moonlighting but that does not mean there are not many more fans than TV networks realise if all they are relying on is a Neilsen score. I'd be interested to know if any of the Moonlight or Friday Night Lights fans have Neilsen boxes - I bet there's very very few of them so the networks think no-one's watching. A new fairer system needs to be found then maybe a few more shows would stay on the air longer.

Any news on season 5 of HOUSE or if anyone will pick up JERICHO? THANKS!
