'Moonlight' Fans Howl In Support of Their Show

By Korbi Ghosh

May 13, 10:20 AM

Sophiamyles_alexoloughlin2_moonlighWith fan favorites like Men In Trees and October Road officially getting their walking papers today, passionate Moonlight viewers have been inspired, making a last ditch effort to insure their favorite vampire drama stays on the air.

Since CBS will announce their final decisions on the Fall schedule in less than 24 hours, Moonlight enthusiasts are mobilizing, disseminating the email addresses and phone numbers of various CBS contacts via sites such as Moonlight-United.com. Organizers are encouraging callers and emailers to to be polite and respectful, use proper grammar and remain positive.

It was a just a year ago this time that CBS cancelled fans' beloved Jericho, only to bring it back after viewers launched a massive campaign in support of the show. Had Jericho's rise from the dead produced better ratings this year, network execs might be more inclined to hear Moonlighters' howl. However, it never hurts to try...

If you'd like to lend your support to Moonlight's cause, now is the time.

UPDATE 12:35 PM: Seems CBS execs have informed Moonlight's cast and crew that they're officially out of a job. Do I smell a repeat of the Jericho campaign coming on? Truckloads of smelly garlic this time around. That should do it.

Yup, it's gone. What a mistake CBS has made. It was a great show and deserved a second season.

Thanks for the link to Moonlight-United.com, Korbi. You rock! NOW can we send REAL garlic to CBS?

I truly hope that CBS will not have this become official on Wednesday. Until then I am going to call, email, and call some more! This is the only show that I want to (and have to) watch, and it is going to be horrible if it is canceled. Please call, call, call! Leave a message on their Audience Services line, 818-655-1797.

enough terrible vampire shows. unwatchable.

Chris | May 14, 2008 10:43:25 AM | #

Moonlight wasn't very good I'm afraid, and it's timeslot of Friday at 9 is the worst you can get.

Dave | May 14, 2008 10:52:38 AM | #

Moonlight was the best thing to ever happen to CBS and they crapped all over it AND the fanbase.

The CW should pick it up. It fits with Smallville, Supernatural and Reaper. It would be a huge hit.

Christy | May 14, 2008 5:26:39 PM | #

CBS has made a huge mistake with this decision, not only for the fans but for the network itself! I don't believe they realize the power of the fanbase for this show. We will not give up, back off or shut up until it's back on the air!!

Long live Moonlight!!

Moonlight is THE new tv show to watch this year. Moonlight got over 10 millions votes and won the People Choice's Award for new drama tv show of the year, and it fully deservers it. The star of the show, Alex O'Loughlin, even won the sexiest scifi actor award. With the news about the strike, the fans have known this year will be a difficult one and they've been fighting teeth and nails for Moonlight: sent garlic to CBS, sent emails and wrote feedbacks to CBS and WB, organized events for Moonlight, including blood donations in the USA, etc. It's a great show filmed with a stylish film noir feel, with great cast and great writers that mix well suspense, horror, detective, action, romance and drama. And we want to get more of it.

The show has over 8 millions dedicated, devoted and passionate fans. Not all fans are counted in the Nielson numbers so the number is way higher than 8 millions, especially if you count the international fans, like me who lives in Canada. The show has won the demo each week. CBS is blind to these fact. Moonlight fans will go wherever the show is picked up.

Make CBS's loss your gain!!! Get Moonlight!!!

CBS failed to recognize the
great potential of this show and its' cast/crew and give it a chance. Their reason for cancelling - that ratings were down post strike can be applied to all network shows. Also, the entire "ratings" system should be done away with. How many viewers are not counted because they're not a Nielson family or don't have Tivo? Neither myself nor anyone I know is counted in the ratings. Bottom line is I think CBS made a very idiotic
business decision and I hope some other network - be it CW or elsewhere - has better business sense and more open minds and picks up this wonderful show.

As of this writing, it appears that MRC has been asked to consider Moonlight as a midseason replacement.

So keep those calls and emails going to WC to take the show on and the WB to shop the show around.

This show already has fans and doesn't need the kind of buildup that something new would. These nearly 8 million fans are bringing not only their eyes, but their grocery and other spending money that is perfect for advertisers hawking their wares.

So please, WB and CW...listen to the rabid fans. We want our Moonlight.

In vampire solidarity,

8 Million viewers, plus those that aren't included in the Nielsen count PLUS millions of international viewers where they've sold the show overseas!

CBS really need a reality check!

We may be down, but we're not out! Moonlight WILL live on - the Tribe won't take 'No' for an answer! :)

Lynette | May 14, 2008 6:08:55 PM | #

I refuse to belive that our show will die, it deserves so much more!!!!

Long live Moonlight!!!
