Archie To Win 'Idol'; Also, Send Me Your Viewer Qs!

3888955715065512 Earlier this week, I predicted a David Cook win. He seemed to stand out as the star and a few sources were whispering that he'd been consistently claiming a significant majority of the vote...

I suppose I shouldn't have forgotten that sometimes fights are won and lost in the final round. Even before the dawg, the ditz and the cranky dude had a chance to open their mouths and comment last night, I had crowned Archuleta king in my head -- because little David came out and killed it, while Cookie just sort of cruised through the hour as if there was nothing on the line. Who knows, maybe David Cook doesn't care to be the next American Idol. Perhaps he's thinking he'll go the Daughtry route. Either way, I'm publicly retracting my previous prediction and calling an Archuleta victory right now.

I will be at the Nokia Theater this evening to watch it all go down. I'll also be stalk-- er, I mean, talking to some of the finalists and several of your favorite Fox stars (cross your fingers for Dylan McKay -- did you see him in the audience with his kids last night?! -- to make an encore appearance), so if you have any specific questions you'd like me to toss their way, write me at kghosh@zap2it.com.

And, by the by, even if Idol isn't your favorite reality competition and singing isn't really the talent you prefer to watch on TV, you must tune in to tonight's finale anyway. A little birdie has told me of a special treat that Fox has planned for the show's opening, and if you're like me, this treat will be the highlight of your evening...

Simon clearly wanted Archie to win. Cook showed range and depth. Archie sang 3 ballads (one of which he ALREADY SANG earlier in the competition- cop out!)

Cook rules.
Archie droolz.

Simon said on Ellen yesterday that he wanted David Cook to win...that little David was like a robot...David Cook is the only one that has a chance to be successful like Kelly and Carrie...David A has a great voice but he does not have anything for todays music...David Cook is exactly what todays music is about...

Korbi...I agree David A had a great night but i dont think the final night matters much...most ppl already know who they like...I am a David Cook fan and just because David A had an amazing night isnt gonna change that...So Im not saying who will win but i think it was decided before last night as far a fans go...

I really want Cook to win. I don't think he was on the top of his game last night (except for that U2 song), but I think that, overall, he's been better than David A. In fact, I agree with Simon--David A. always comes off as robotic. He's got a good voice, but he always sounds the same.

And Dylan McKay!!! I actually said that, out loud, when I saw Perry on-screen. I want to see him on 90210. And, honestly, I wish they'd get Doherty, too (and no, I don't mean Pete). I don't care if they have to get her tranquilizers so that she behaves. I always wanted Dylan to end up with Brenda, damn it...

I don't think you should have changed your mind so soon. There are only so many 14 year old girls that watch idol and Cook WILL win.

I love David Cook and actually get shivers when he sings but after last night I don't think it's possible for Archuleta to lose. And that may be for the best. David Cook won't have to worry about being Clive's slave and can go out and make the music he wants to.

If this is truly a singing competition, David A will win.

If David A. wins, we all lose. Who wants to listen to a cd that is guarenteed to put you to sleep?

Did David Cook throw the competition last night? And did Simon know that? Was Simon in on it? So many conspiracy theories.

I, for one, voicing "just an opinion" as Simon says, thought that David Cook actually won Rounds 1 & 3. The only time that Archie outsang Cookie was in the second round, when it was more about which of the bad songs was less bad!

I wanted to leap through my screen and beat Randy about the head for being unable to say anything other than "hot, zone, phonebook" to Archie over and over for 6 weeks now. His first song had some VERY wonky notes that made my ears hurt. Funny that King Pitchy didn't notice that ...

I think DA ended with a bigger song, and going second all night helped him as well. DC should busted out a song from Live for his last one, like All Over You. I still hope he wins.

Personally, I don't think David Cook wanted to win the title of American Idol. He'll be signed to 19 Entertainment either way and won't have all the pressure and expectations when releasing his album, unlike David A., who won't be able to transform his show perform into CD sales b/c he won't get any mainstream airplay or chart positions.

Erika | May 21, 2008 9:37:48 AM | #

I hope David Archuleta wins...he deserves it more because he's the better singer. Period. This is a "singing competition", and frankly, I don't think Cook can sing worth a lick. If Cook wins, it's a travesty, IMO. He's more of a "performer" than a "singer". Either way, they both get record deals, so it doesn't matter that much in the end.

Cook won.

SirMac | May 21, 2008 10:33:12 AM | #

I agree with Erika. Should Archie win, and stops crying, his album will be totally irrelevant. Like Clay Aiken's. I expect to hear it while sitting in the dentist's waiting room.

Cook is my favorite, but win or lose, his first album will be produced by 19 and we all know the kind of schlock they dare to pass off as music. I look forward to David Cook's first album away from 19 -- that will rock.

does anybody else think David A.'s father probably ruined his chances after everyone found out about his antics? plus that boy appears to have the i.q. of an artichoke..I never have once heard him say anything intelligent..just..
"gosh"" oh my gosh""" wtf?

liz | May 21, 2008 8:08:44 PM | #

I don't think DA's father ruined his chances on Idol. I think the media conspired to kill DA's reputation. The media was the one making up all the rumors. Who knew they all worked for TMZ. Lies all around. The media couldn't believe that DA was that talented and that shy. They couldn't dig up any dirt on a 17-year-old Morman kid from Utah, so they decided to attack his father with LIES. Everyone of which have been shot down the David himself and backed up by David Cook. Everyone at Idol did everything they could to ensure DC's win. Including Nigel picking crappy songs (Longer) for DA and not letting him change it up.

Everyone says DA sounds the same all the time. Well to me, DC is exactly the same everytime. Raspy, soft, rocker dude trying to be edgy. DC just steals his arrangements from real rockers and claims them are his own creation. What a crock.
