'The Amazing Race' Finale: Finding out who won

It was off to Maui tonight on "The Amazing Race" finale. Heading into the episode, I felt as though I would be happy no matter who won. Certainly I had my favorites, but there was no team there that I hated, and by the end of the episode I ended up liking all three much more than I had before.

Lakishahoffman_jenniferhoffman_amazingrace14_240 There are foolish teams on “The Amazing Race” and then there are teams which act foolishly. Tonight we saw both, we unquestionably saw both, but I’m not sure I can tell you which was which.

Cararosenthal_jaimeedmondson_amazingrace14_240 After a great beginning to the season, I’ve thought that the past few weeks of "The Amazing Race" have been a disappointment (yes, even the fight). Just as I was beginning to think that the show was going to go all boring in its final episodes this season, tonight happened. Boy did tonight happen.

Lakishahoffman_jenniferhoffman_amazingrace14_240 By the end of “The Amazing Race” there’s often animosity between teams, but rarely is it as overt as it was tonight. After this week’s episode I think it’s safe to say that Lakisha & Jennifer and Margie & Luke won’t be on each other’s Christmas card list.

Lakishahoffman_jenniferhoffman_amazingrace14_240 I know that we only went without “The Amazing Race” for one week, but it felt like a whole lot longer than that. Without a weekly dose of Detours, Roadblocks, rule breaking, and just plain stupidity I don’t know what to do with myself. At least there was enough breaking of rules and stupidity tonight to make up for the lack last week.

Melwhite_mikewhite_amazingrace14_240 There are weeks when I watch "The Amazing Race" and become completely despondent with the way we, as Americans, act. I don't like the episodes where we only get to see "the ugly Americans." Thank goodness for Mel & Mike. Things may not always turn out their way, but they're good people and prove that we can be too.

Michaelmunoz_markmunoz_amazingrace14_240 It was off to Jaipur, India tonight on "The Amazing Race," making it one of those wonderful instances where I can say "hey, I've been there!" Those monkeys they kept showing through the episode? They weren't some sort of aberration, they're everywhere. It's awesome.

Christievolkmer_jodiwincheski_amazingrace14_240 It didn't take very long for the word to get out to all the teams on "The Amazing Race" that Margie & Luke were responsible for last week's Blind U-turn. It caused a joke or two this week, but certainly didn't anger anyone. It actually curried the favor of Cara and Jaime, which was the point all along. I think we all know that Luke would love to curry their favor and I think we know why.

Amandablackledge_krisklicka_amazingrace14_240 Every once in a while there are ultra-hard legs on The Amazing Race. They're filled with things which, on paper, look pretty easy but for one reason or another prove terribly difficult and time consuming. Tonight, we got one of those legs.

Tammyjih_victorjih_amazingrace14_240 I hate seeing a team I like on The Amazing Race fall apart. Whether it happens due to poor teamwork, bad luck, or in this case both, it's troublesome. When it happens, it always makes me want to reach into the television and strangle the offending party. It's even worse when that team starts the leg in first place.
