'Reaper' looks to the heavens in its finale

What is in all likelihood the final episode of "Reaper" ever ended with a cosmic bang, but little in the way of definitive answers.

'Reaper': Sam climbs the hellish corporate ladder

Television loves to make "The Corporation" its go-to bad guy, and tonight "Reaper" took its own swipe at big business.

'Reaper': Putting the Sprong back in their step

Some people face their imminent demise with fear. Others laugh in the face of death. "Reaper" chooses to basically ignore its own potential demise.

Rickgonzalez When God needed to set Moses on the righteous path, He spoke to him through a burning bush. In the world of "Reaper," a karaoke DVD works just fine as a conduit. This week's mythology-rich episode harkened back to the high points of Season 1 in way that that makes me wish they had taken us on a season-long journey along The Path of Steve.

Raywise A major step up from the recent missteps, tonight's episode of "Reaper" gave both Sam and his father a sense of purpose lacking throughout most of the season. The former is mad as hell, and the latter decides to go there.

Missyperegrym Cain and Abel it wasn't, but tonight's "Reaper" did feature another fraternal breakdown between Sam and his supposed brother Morgan. At stake? A seat at the Devil's right hand and point person for Lucifer's actions on earth. Also at stake? Viewer boredom, as the past few weeks have been fairly yawn-inducing.

Rickgonzalez Ah, "Reaper", why must you limp toward your all but inevitable finish line? Rather than explore last week's interesting shading of Sam's dark side, you gave us an episode of cougar jokes, fly fishing beatdowns, and a supposedly all-powerful, unstoppable evil entity that gets confused by copulation. All in all, a pretty weak week.

Bretharrison "Reaper" fans, I come not to bury the show, but to praise it. And since we're more than likely looking at the final season of the show, let's enjoy every morsel we can. Sure, it's tough with Kristen and her booty shorts getting in the way, but we'll try and make the best of things with the few remaining weeks we have.

Raywise Last week, "Reaper" finally reintroduced Sam's father to the fold. Fans cheered, as they had waited a long time to achieve some payoff to last year's season-ending cliffhanger. And their patience was rewarded with...practical jokes. Not exactly the epic return most of us expected. While the unexpected can be a good, even great thing, I imagine many fans felt the same as me about Mr. Oliver's return: disappointed.

Tylerlabine After a few weeks in which "Reaper" sought to balance the onscreen time devoted to Sam, Sock, and Ben, this week's episode put the focus more directly on our nominal hero. All three got screen time, all performing various forms of "training," but Sam clearly stood front and center this week along with a certain someone all too happy to share the spotlight, so long as it means he didn't actually have to do any work.
