'Kitchen Nightmares': Fine dining finger food

By Josh Lasser

December 12, 10:44 PM

Gr_kitchennightmares_s1_240 I had hoped that the season finale of Kitchen Nightmares would be some sort of holiday themed episode, six moldy geese a-laying, that kind of thing. Continue reading »

'Kitchen Nightmares': What part of 'business' do you not understand?

By Sarah Jersild

November 28, 09:35 PM

Kitchennightmares_240 I've figured out how to make Kitchen Nightmares obsolete: No one is allowed to open, buy or invest in a restaurant until they have spent at least six months waiting tables ... Continue reading »

'Kitchen Nightmares': Everyone's a villain!

By Sarah Jersild

November 21, 08:38 PM

Kitchennightmares_240 Poor Josh -- he picked the wrong time to go on a top-secret mission. He's been wondering for weeks why every episode of Kitchen Nightmares has to have one readily identifiable villain, and we finally had an episode that deviated from the formula. Continue reading »

'Kitchen Nightmares' finds another villain

By Josh Lasser

November 14, 10:33 PM

Why exactly is it that every episode of Kitchen Nightmares has to have a villain? Why can it never be the case that while the owners, managers, and waiters (or waitresses) were all good, happy, nice people, the restaurant was just failing? Maybe it makes for better television to have an enemy. Whatever the reason is,... Continue reading »

'Kitchen Nightmares': Unclear on the concept

By Sarah Jersild

November 07, 08:44 PM

Gordonramsay_hellskitchen_240_001 There are all sorts of reasons a restaurant can go wrong. It could be the wrong mix of people, a not-ideal location, spotty supply or crappy service. Or, as on this week's episode of Kitchen Nightmares, it could be because the guy in charge is an arrogant, delusional ass who wouldn't know good food if it was forcibly shoved down his throat. That's right -- in an unprecedented development, Gordon Ramsay himself is not the most arrogant or abrasive person on the show.

'Kitchen Nightmares': Wait... I've eaten there!

By Josh Lasser

October 17, 10:58 PM

Chefgordonramsay_hellskitchen_240 Tonight we were in Tuckahoe, NY, not too far from my hometown. And, more amazingly, we're at The Olde Stone Mill. Now, I can't be too clear on this: I have eaten at this restaurant. Again: I have eaten at this restaurant. Once more: I have eaten at this restaurant.

'Kitchen Nightmares' hits below the belt

By Josh Lasser

October 10, 10:27 PM

Kitchennightmares_240_2 Very happily, the majority of this week's Kitchen Nightmares was head and shoulders above last week's. There were still one or two major flaws which we'll get into later, but it was better, a step in the right direction if you will. This week's restaurant is so much further down in the dumps than the last place's extreme mediocrity it was just what the show needed

'Kitchen Nightmares': The episode that wasn't

By Josh Lasser

October 03, 10:19 PM

Gordonramsay_hellskitchen_240_001 Kitchen Nightmares purports to be fixing "America's" worst restaurants. In the first episode Gordon Ramsay was on Long Island, the next episode he was in Manhattan, and now he is back on Long Island. (and the promo at the end of the show puts him back on Long Island next week). That implies some really bad things about the tri-state area and I'm uncomfortable with that notion. But, I digress, time for tonight's show.

'Kitchen Nightmare' thy name is Martin

By Josh Lasser

September 26, 10:53 PM

Kitchennightmares_240 Gordon Ramsay makes it look easy. He takes a restaurant that is a complete and utter disaster, works there for a week, changes absolutely everything about them, and they end up perfect and a big success. To be fair, it is an unbelievably large task, and tonight's episode was quite possibly larger than most. Yet, Ramsay hardly breaks a sweat, the most worked up he gets is when he is yelling at people.

'Kitchen Nightmares' goes to Babylon

By Josh Lasser

September 19, 10:36 PM

Kitchennightmares_240 One knows that they are in for a good time watching Kitchen Nightmares because it starts off with a “Viewer Discretion is Advised” warning. It’s a cooking show, and it starts with a warning about the language. Fantastic.
