Desperate Housewives
'Desperate Housewives' Finale
"Desperate Housewives" is gearing up for next week's big finale, so tonight featured far more setup than payoff. Luckily, it also featured a number of amusing one-liners. And a number of valuable lessons about the dangers of plastic surgery, robbing yourself, overspending, and having a private conversation while an evil mastermind is listening in on the phone. I hope you all were taking notes!
On Desperate Housewives, it seems food and sex are legal tender. Food, sex, and slumber party invitations. Though the substance of the episode was largely forgettable, there were several laugh out loud (and "ew "out loud) moments, and the Dave plot is still thankfully lumbering toward its conclusion.
Kudos to those of you who suspected there was more to the story of Susan and Mike's car accident! We got a few additional details tonight on "Desperate Housewives" -- a minor twist, but I'll take what I can get these days. We also learned that marriage is fraught with jealousy, lying, and knick-knack stealing. Just something to keep in mind.
Marc Cherry brought out the big guns (literally) on "Desperate Housewives" tonight, with plenty of action along with a healthy dose of humor to lighten things up. Keep it up, Marc!
On the one hand, I'm pleased that ABC found alternate employment for Swoosie Kurtz as Susan's boss on "Desperate Housewives". On the other hand, it just serves as a bitter reminder that the very same network cancelled the far better show she was on previously. Rest In Peace, "Pushing Daisies".
Desperate Housewives continued its string of unexciting but inoffensive episodes tonight as the mystery inched its way along, becoming less mysterious and more of a slow march toward the inevitable climax. Surprise me, Marc Cherry!
Tonight on Desperate Housewives, we learned that it's like the more money we come across, the more problems we see. (Biggie was wise before his time, folks.) We also learned that not having money sucks, so...basically you're screwed either way. Awesome.
Tonight on Desperate Housewives, handyman Eli Scruggs died fixing a shingle Susan's roof. Don't worry, that's not a spoiler. It happened before the opening credits. It's a great guest-starring role from Beau Bridges. We also delightfully finally got back to our ladies' poker game. I miss seeing this all the time like we did in the first year or so.
