Not only is perennial summer fare like Hell's Kitchen in full swing, but tonight the second season of American Gladiators began, and if that doesn't feel like "summer television," I don't know what does. The basic problem with a two-hour edition of American Gladiators, as I may have hinted at last week, is not that there's not enough action in the show, but rather that there are far too many commercials and far too many commercial breaks. More »

For the semifinals of American Gladiators, NBC opted to up the episode time from 60 minutes to 90. That meant that the network could squeeze in even more awkwardly spaced, momentum killing, commercial breaks (they also added an extra event). More »
