'America's Got Talent': Michael Grimm is crowned the winner of Season 5
After a finals that included four really strong performances by Jackie Evancho, Fighting Gravity and Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm was crowned the winner of "America's Got Talent" Season 5. Were you surprised? Michael certainly looked surprised to win. We were a little surprised, but congratulations to him nonetheless. Jackie Evancho took 2nd, Fighting Gravity took 3rd and Prince Poppycock finished 4th, perhaps due to a performance in the finals that Piers buzzed.
We think that everyone did really well all season and we would have been happy no matter who won. The tour should have a lot of really entertaining acts on it this year, which isn't something we could have said about every season of the show.
Will you be going to the tour? It kicks off in Oakland, CA on Friday, Oct. 1.

I was thrilled Michael Grimm won. I'm sick and tired of people being so surprised, not sure why. He is extremely talented and deserved to win. Apparently, the majority of the people watching agreed. Jackie is a winner too. She will do just fine, as will the other two finalists.

I too am glad that Michael won. . tho living on the West Coast haven't even watched the show yet. Jackie will have a career for sure. I feel torn because the prize is to play Vegas, truthfully can't see that young girl playing Vegas. I thought Fighting were the best for a Vegas show. I did love Michael, he was my favorite. So I'll look surprised when I watch the show. Ha!
Why are you surprised he has been a favorite all along. What show have you been watching. They were all good except Poppycock. He was stupid and made no cents. I doubt he goes anywhere. Yes the winner gets one million dollars and a contract.

AGT should thank their lucky stars Terry Fator won otherwise they'd have 5 no name winners. I know the judges are soft on criticism with singers on this show but for the first time in five seasons they had a singing star, the next Charlotte Church/Sarah Brightman and they and America blew it. Grimm is a GOOD singer not a great singer, if he was on Idol he might get to the Top 7 or 8 in a best case scenario and that's a more fair way to judge singers than the typical fawning the AGT judges do. Fighting Gravity and Jackie are two of the best three acts the show's ever had both with actual futures in the entertainment world and neither won which is stunning. Remember these are the same judges who have claimed singers like Lawrence Beeman and Kevin Skinner were stars and no non-AGT viewer has ever heard of those hacks. I like Grimm and he's an upgrade over the last two winners, but not the right act to be Season 5 champ, not a chance.
The repeated gist this year was a 'Headlining Vegas Act'. Neither Michael or Jackie fit the bill. Singers with better voices and instrumental talent than Michael (as fantastic as he was) clog and clutter Vegas's lower lounges and casino bars, and NO CASINO big or small will have a preteen child as a featured act. We are in Vegas every 12 to 18 months since 1985, and even thru their 'Family entertainment' phase, she was never gonna have a job. Prince Poppycock or the University boys should have been final 2, hands down. They were a perfect fit. AGT is now suffering same affliction Idol succumbed to - cute/popular over reality.
Congratulations, Michael! Your fans had your back all the way. You are loved. Remember that.
