ashley-g-sytycd-320x180.jpgThis season of "So You Think You Can Dance" is shaping up to be a test of physical health. The title should be changed to "So You Think You Can Survive." "Survivor" might even be a better fit!

Yesterday, we found out poor Ashley was injured, thus putting her in position to be eliminated should the prognosis not be good. And well, it was a case of bad luck and timing that ended one capable dancer's dream of being crowned America's favorite dancer.

After tonight's elimination, it's down to six.

Opening Performance: Top seven and all-stars, "Charleston from "Billon Dollar Baby"

Great to see the all-stars dancing with the competitors. Thee number makes you realize how guy-heavy the competition has become. I'm a huge Broadway fan so this performance was a top one for me. It was also good to see Dominic open the number.

My predictions for the bottom three? Ashley (because of her injury), Jose and man, Adechike? Robert? It's a tough week to predict.

Who's Safe? Who's Not?:

Ashley - Bottom Three (injured)
Kent - Safe
Lauren - Safe
Billy - Bottom Three
Adechike - Safe
Robert - Safe
Jose - Bottom Three

Spotlighting the All-Stars:

Twitch and Comfort, "Forever" by Chris Brown

Fantastic performance. Never really liked Comfort, but hello "SYTYCD"ers, Twitch and Comfort are killer hip-hop dancers. Love.

The Fillers:

1) "Jailhouse Rock" Elvis Presley
(Performed by Fernando and Lauren)

If you didn't see how young these dancers were, you'd think they were seasoned veterans, but they couldn't be older than 16. (They're 11 and 10 years old! Insanity!) Cute little routine! Fernando and Cat even arm wrestle and of course, the little guy wins.

2) "Gravity's Angel" by Laurie Anderson
(Performed by Jamar Roberts and Rachel McClaren)

Crazy routine, but absolutely beautiful to look at. The lines were gorgeous. This is what happens when you get professionals on the show ..

3) "Jar of Hearts" by Chrstina Perry
(Performed by all-stars Neil and Allison)

Remember that Stacey Tookey routine with Billy and Kathryn those weeks ago? The singer of the song that was used is back. The all-stars' interpretation is great accompaniment. A pretty good performance by the artist and the dancers (and the crowd seemed to love it too; it could also be Neil's open shirt that propelled the cheers ..).

The Bottom Three:

1) Billy, "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King
(Contemporary; "dance for your life" solo)

Good solo. It goes without saying: Billy is an

2) Jose, "Chicken Bone Circuit" by RJD2
(B-boy; "dance for your life" solo)

Cool to see a b-boy solo finally after all these weeks. Jose was giving his all, and that should be rewarded by the judges.

3) Ashley, did not perform

I wonder why there wasn't any real spotlight on Ashley this week.

The Results:

Ashley is gone! Wow. (Nigel spoke to Ashley's doctor and was told she shouldn't dance for the next three to five weeks.) I'm betting judges are really hoping they never implemented that new rule this season about injured dancers. Yikes.

What are your thoughts on Ashley's elimination? Who should've been given the boot? Discuss below!

Really and truly, it was Jose's time to leave, and I believe that he would have if Ashley hadn't been injured. I repeat, it's a real shame to lose Ashley (as well as Alex) this way and to have Lauren F. be the only remaining female contestant; but I do agree that it was the right decision given that their future careers and current health would be at risk otherwise. I remember when Misty May Trainor suffered the same injury as Alex while participating in Dancing with the Stars. Immediate medical attention was required in order to preserve any hope of future participation in her field of sport. While Ashley's injury is less serious, it is nonetheless a threat to her future hopes and dreams in the field of dance.

I was shocked that Billy was in the bottom three (it really should have been Adechike) but satisfied that Robert was saved; however, Billy's "Dance-For-Your-Life" solo was lacklustre compared with the solos that he performed previously.

With regard to when voting results will be completely in the hands of the voting public, that occurred in seasons past after half of the 20 contestants had been eliminated. Since we started off with 11 contestants this season, I suspect that the judges will relinquish control after the performances of either the Top 6 or the Top 5 at the latest.

I think it's a foregone conclusion now that the final 2 will be Lauren/Kent w/ Kent winning. I don't mind that (though this winner will always have that, "well, if Alex Wong hadn't been...) which will be tough. Don't understand why ppl still don't much like Billy, way better than Adech. and Jose in my opinion. Jose, out of his depth now, and Adech. just has now personality like the others.

I disagree about Archchike, I think one of the reasons he is not in the bottom 3 is that he has a good personality. I think he is one of the most likable on the show right now and I think others feel the same way and that is why he is still in this competition.

Maybe Billy and Kent are splitting votes because they are similar dancers, with Kent getting a larger proportion due to his personality..?

@Julie, I think you're probably right about the timing for turning eliminations over to viewer vote. Personally I don't like the judges having this level of control so late in the game. This may be because I am in a very anti-judge state of mind ever since Nigel made his personal plea to America on Robert's behalf (which he has continued to follow up with statements like, "If America doesn't love you after *that*, well I don't know *what* they are thinking!"). It is uber-manipulative, way out of line, and completely unfair to the other dancers who don't get the benefit of the judges telling America what nice and wonderful people they are. I'm not happy with him. :(

If Ashley had not gone home, it would NOT have been Jose, it would definitely have been Billy. They are hanging onto Jose under every pretense imaginable. If/when the power is turned back over to the fans entirely, I don't think the results will be any different.

Wow. Two of the dancers who were likely locks for final four gone by injury. V unfortunate.

Billy is an incredible dancer but the voters aren't loving him. I'm thinking Kent pulls away a lot of the 'love the cute young guy' vote.

Robert has upped his game. It wasn't looking good for him for a while there. Alex injuring out may have helped him a lot, tho he may have pulled it off on his own, he's really improved.

Lauren and Kent are a lock for final four. Robert likely.

I'm thinking Billy, Adechike and Jose are all in jeapordy. Jose's not nailing the other styles (tho he's trying SO hard), Adech' is outdanced by the other contemporary men and Billy... i dunno... if he doesn't do something to get the votes it's not looking good.

It's VERY unfortunate that both Alex and Ashley had to leave. They, along with Kent, are/were my top 3 favorites. And Jose needs to go. He seems so nice and is trying so hard, but didn't anyone notice that he didn't even perform in the opening routine last night?? He came onstage when the couch came onstage at the end and that was his first appearance! Based on his solo, he wasn't injured. America's favorite dancer should win, not America's favorite sweet guy.

Each week I miss Alex more and more. And I agree, Jose is starting to really show his lack of training. But there is just something about Billy that irks me. Irks me a lot--I don't know why. I wouldn't mind at all if he were to go. Adechike is a good dancer and seems to be a sweet kid, but he doesn't have what Kent and Robert have. Jose, depending on his fan base and the dances given, can go the distance or go home depending on what occurs.

I love SYTYCD. I just discovered a cool site that triples viewers' “So You Think You Can Dance” votes. Check out VoteMyVote dot com. It's free.

7/14/2010-7/15/2010 episodes, the dancing was exceptional, however iam tired of listening to the sexist remarks made by judges and male contestants in reference to the female anatomy specific to the buttocks women are beautiful dancers and need to be respected on the show.
