'Big Brother 12': Andrew's master plan

There is a lot of strategy on "Big Brother 12," but unfortunately, most of it is not good strategy.

Previously: Matt won HoH and inexplicably nominated Andrew and Kathy.

Post-Nomination Reaction
Everyone is flabbergasted by Matt's nominations, including the nominees themselves. Hayden in particular wants one of the nominees replaced so they can get either Brendon or Rachel out of the house. The Brigade gets together and decides that, if the opportunity presents itself, they will definitely backdoor Brendon or Rachel.

POV Competition
Brendon, Lane, Rachel, Andrew, Kathy and Matt compete for the veto. Everyone is pretty upset that both Brendon and Rachel got chosen to play, considering they are the true targets. Luckily for everyone (in the world), Enzo is chosen as the host and has to dress like some sort of shiny Studio 54 genie. It is pretty much the most awesome thing ever (aside from this). The game is a familiar setup from past seasons where everyone answers numerical-based questions. Once everyone's answers are revealed, you can choose to either stay in the game with your number, or fold. If you stay and are furthest from the actual amount, you are eliminated. If you stay and are closest to the actual answer, you get a point. The first person to three points wins the veto. The game comes down to Andrew and Brendon, and because this game likes to mess with everyone's minds Brendon comes out the winner.

After the competition, Matt laments how Brendon and Rachel are basically doing better than them at this point. Whine, whine, whine. Matt. If you want people out of the house, NOMINATE them. Don't rely on wussy "backdoor" strategies when they aren't necessary. Andrew points out this stupidity, and Matt agrees that he is an idiot. Well, at least we have that.

POV Ceremony
During their speeches, Kathy basically says she doesn't want or expect Brendon to use the veto on her. Andrew, on the other hand, goes sort of insane. His speech was so crazy I've decided to transcribe it because there is no way I could do it proper justice:

"I had a chance to save myself during the competition and unfortunately I didn't, so congratulations, Brendon. This game is ironic. A few weeks ago Brendon and Rachel ousted Matt, and they saved him by voting for him to stay in the house. Matt fired back and said 'I'm going after Brendon and Rachel', but he didn't put them on the block. All three of them are unscarred from all of the weeks that passed and their strategy worked, so I am going to try that strategy. Brendon and Rachel, I'm coming after you. And Brendon, I would like for you to give me the Power of Veto, to save me."

Everyone's face in the room looks exactly like how I am feeling right now. (Translation: Whaaaaaaa?) Andrew's explanation is that he wants everyone to think he wants Brendon and Rachel out of the house so they will keep him around. More likely, he just convinced everyone that he's completely unstable. This whole thing seems to be some sort of master plan by him and Brendon to divert suspicion from Andrew, but according to Matt no one is buying what they are selling. Perhaps if that speech made more sense? ...Nah.

Random thoughts:
  • I adore the editors of this show, who often manage to spin the boring, boring straw that is this house into gold. My favorite sequence of the night was the Pop Rocks of Frustration tableau with Lane and Matt. Green apple ISN'T very good.
  • So, apparently Lane is funny? He was on a serious roll in this episode. But the machine gun thing is a bit frightening. (I am obviously not from Texas.)

Favorite quotes:
  • "Brendon and Rachel are already both scientists. The last thing we need is a test on the table of elements for the veto competition." - Enzo (Who might use the word "scientists" a bit loosely.)
  • "I didn't know Jewish guys wore ninja outfits when they pray. That's the good thing about being on 'Big Brother,' I can learn about different cultures and how they work." - Lane
  • "Growing up in Texas, guns are like a second nature to us. It's not uncommon to see a gun in someone's car or someone's truck. It doesn't mean we're going to go rob a bank. We might be bored that day and want to go shoot a turtle." - Lane
  • "Guess what people? You better watch out, because this house is being taken over by Brenchel." - Brendon (Um, ew.)

what... he wants the POV to save himself so he can go after other people... i hope this moron gets evicted on Thursday

Andrew showed exactly how crazy the game has been so far. I thought it was quite crafty/intelligent, but harldy the best move for the game!!! Matt is ridiculous. He could have put up Brendon and Rachel and one would have been out. Studid plan.

Actually he wanted the person with the Power of Veto to take him off so that he can target the person who saved him by using the Power of Veto. And there have been seasons where that would have worked!
