desperate-housewives-abc-patrick-angie.jpgIn this episode of "Desperate Housewives," Susan faces some hard choices, Angie and Lynette have killer houseguests and Gaby may be Angie's only hope.

Angie's explosive predicament
We join Angie while she's sleeping, handcuffed to the bed. She dreams of the bad decisions in her life: leaving college, joining an extreme environmentalist group and getting involved with a hilariously longhaired Patrick (played by John Barrowman). I can't believe that funny wig the show put him in. Patrick then wakes her up and admires her scar. She, of course, doesn't share his sentiment, since it's a reminder of the horrible act they performed ending in someone's death. Got to love Angie for straight up asking Patrick to tell her what he wants from her; another bomb, he says. In her dream, she walked out of what looked like a physics class, I believe. So, she must be some scientific genius. Who would have thought?

Meanwhile, It's Carlos' birthday and as he's running out for work, Gaby threatens reminds him that she'll be making her lasagna for him like she does every year. Though he tries to lie about it, Gaby senses that he doesn't like her lasagna. Her intuition is right. He says she doesn't make it like his mama, and she mentions that his mother never bothered to give her the recipe before she died. Of course, she was hit by a car (driven by Andrew) went into a coma, woke up, then fell down a flight of stairs to her death. She wasn't exactly afforded the time to pass her recipe box over to Gaby.

Back at Angie's house, she still won't build the bomb even as Patrick has laid the pieces out in front of her and tried to appeal to her environmentalist side by telling her it's meant for a development that's chopping down forestland. But, he says that he's still waiting for one more piece anyway. Then Gaby knocks and he tells Angie to get rid of her. She came over for Angie's lasagna recipe and Patrick introduces himself as Angie's brother. While Angie writes the recipe (and what I hope is an SOS to Gaby), Gaby throws her pithy charm at Patrick. When she finally leaves, he jokes that he's surprised Angie hasn't already built a bomb to get rid of Gaby. Guess he's not a fan of pithy?

Then, in the middle of the night, Angie is startled awake again. This time it's Danny and she tells him to get out, but he tells her that she texted him to come quickly. Then just as she's telling him it wasn't her and he has to go, Patrick shows up in the doorway with a gun on Danny! Looks as if Angie has discovered the motivation to build Patrick's bomb.

Obviously, it's not the ideal father-son reunion, especially since Danny is tied to a chair. I love when Patrick says after all this he wants a normal relationship and Danny says that when he gets untied, he's going to kill him.

desperate-housewives-abc-juanita-celia-gaby.jpgAngie, meanwhile, is putting together the bomb when Gaby lets herself in downstairs. She wants Angie to taste her lasagna. I guess Angie didn't write her note on the recipe card, huh? Patrick tells Angie to get rid of her, so Angie takes the lasagna, cuts a piece out, then writes a note to Gaby and stuffs it into the remaining lasagna. She then gives it back to Gaby, who gets offended she didn't keep the whole thing. When she gets home, she throws the lasagna in the trash and doesn't find the note. Then later that night, Gaby finds her daughters had taken the lasagna out of the trash for a late night snack. Gotta love, um, big boned kids! Then, Celia coughs up Angie's note and Gaby reads her plea for help.

Lynette: Too little, too late?
Hello, Detective John Booth. The handsome officer has been trailing the Fairview Strangler with no luck when word comes in that a woman's body was found in the woods.

Back at Lynette's place, the housewife approaches Eddie and tells him that she went over to his mother's house to ask her to come to counseling. She also lets him know that the neighbors haven't seen her for a few days. Eddie tells her that's normal behavior for her and she's probably on a bender. Lynette still wonders if they should call someone, but Eddie tells her that's not necessary.

Later, Det. Booth shows up at Lynette's front door. The body was Irina's and he needs to talk to Preston. I love how both Lynette and Tom get some quick digs into the woman before they find out she's dead. Preston is out camping with Porter, but Tom says he'll call him right away. At the top of the stairs, Eddie listens in on the news...

Later, Eddie comes down with his bag packed and Lynette asks him where he's going, He tells her that he should get home to meet his mother when she returns from her bender. When Lynette tells him that he can come back after he knows she's OK, he says that won't be happening. She senses the finality and wonders if he didn't enjoy living with them. Of course, he tells her that he loved it. Before he leaves, she asks for a hug and he whispers to her that he would have turned out differently if she were his mother. I can't believe how terribly touching this scene was. I can't help, but feel sad for this kid who never seemed to have gotten a break. OK, so he killed a bunch of women and almost killed Julie when he meant to kill Susan. But, his childhood sucked and he seems sweet aside from being a lunatic serial killer, right?

At the police station, Preston tells the family that they just wanted to get a timeline on Irina and that he's not a suspect. After all, they believe she was killed by the same person who killed the other women while he was in Europe. Preston blames himself, though, for bringing her to the U.S. in the first place. The family leaves and Lynette says she'll be right there. She then overhears the police say that another body was found. It's Barbara, Eddie's mother. Startled, Lynette runs out.

She goes straight to Eddie's place to give him the news. When she finds him packing his things, he makes up a story about his mother being in Florida and he's going to join her. Relieved that he had heard from his mother, Lynette tells him that she thinks the police must have misidentified the latest body. But, as soon as she says it, Eddie's reaction tells her she's in big trouble. He drops his bag, locks the door and tells her that he really wished she hadn't come over. Boy, this show really makes helping others a very, very unattractive thing to do.

Susan's shake down
Susan has been going through Mike's finances for days and she can't figure out why his income isn't matching what he has invoiced. Then, Mike tells her that some people just haven't paid him and he feels bad about shaking them down. After all, he has known some of them for years. Susan volunteers to do it for him, but he's not sure her quivering lips and big sad eyes routine is going to work. That is until she drops it on him - tears and all. After her effective demonstration, he gives her his blessing.

Yet, she finds that when it comes to money, others have some very sad stories to tell, as well. So, after she loses it and threatens to spoil one guy's public reputation, he hands over the cash. Ding! She realizes that if she just plays hardball, people will pay up. When she gets back with all her spoils, Mike is impressed, if not a little surprised at some of the more offbeat ways she had people pay up. He then offers her a game-changer. It seems the IRS has decided to do its own bill collecting on the couple. Susan, newly invigorated by the bullying style that has reaped her all that loot, decides she's not going to back down. I'm not sure who they know, but before we know it, the two have a meeting with the IRS. Susan does a whole "we pay taxes, so we're your boss" approach and the IRS rep doesn't seem to appreciate her, um, methods. The two walk away with their IRS bill and several additional penalty fees tagged on. Now, they're down to nothing, but the house. Ding again! They decide to rent their house out.

When Sue breaks it to the other housewives, they're broken up about it and offer to write her checks to help. Susan turns their money down and says she and Mike have already found an apartment and they'll bounce back eventually. Regardless, she says that they'll still see each other and she means it. The housewives say they won't lose touch with her, as well.

Bree is cooking up trouble
Bree, Andrew and Orson are still trying to figure out how to get rid of Sam. She's scared of him, but Andrew is ready to take him down. Orson, who knows he won't be very effective in a fight, suggests they pay him off and she agrees.

At the office, Bree has called Sam in. She tells him that Rex created two trust funds for their kids, but obviously overlooked setting one up for Sam. After she gives him a check, he's happy to accept it at first. Then, she lowers the boom and tells him that she has brought Andrew back and she's giving him Sam's job. Oh, boy, he does not take kindly to being bought off and tells her that if she insults him again, she'll wish she hadn't. Oh, Bree, your need to "do the right thing" has definitely gotten you in trouble once again!

desperate-housewives-abc-sam-bree.jpgOK, so I totally have to say that I loved how Bree handled the Sam situation. She invited him over to meet a couple ex-cop friends of hers. All they had to do was show Sam a few things they could do to someone who was messing with a nice lady. Oh, and, let him know they knew exactly where he lives. Bree, meanwhile, did a marvelous job of making sure their teacups were full and Sam was clear that you don't mess with her.

Then, Sam returns and he decides to give Bree his own threat. He wants her to sign over her entire business to him in exchange for silence. Silence on what, pray tell? Turns out that back at his introductory dinner, Danielle got drunk and told Sam some family secrets, including the one about Andrew running over Carlos' mom. I'm sorry, "Desperate Housewives," but that was awful. Are you going to tell me that Sam has known this little tidbit and he kept it hidden this long? It's a little too convenient without some kind of foreshadowing and I'm annoyed that the show resorted to this kind of writer's conceit.

Aren't you excited to see how Gaby will pull off saving Angie and Danny?

I also loved the visit from the cops that Bree set up for Sam.
Other than that, I am a little surprised at the storyline because it seems as though they did so little to set it up. He switched up the sherry with vinegar to get Andrew in trouble but she could have easily confronted him about it and fired him. Then when he threw the vase, she also could have used it to fire him. However, given the fact that Andrew smashed a guitar against a fireplace a few weeks ago, I was surprised that she is scared of Sam because he threw a vase. And she has forgiven and covered up so many of Andrew's sins that I am surprised that she is so worried about Sam. I also think that maybe his threat of blackmail is to hurt them by not accepting him - he's been an outsider for years and they still won't accept him.

So many things about this episode that didn't make sense.

Mike doesn't want to use Susan's money to pay their debt because he is the man of the house and want to pay for his family. However, he has no problem with Susan collecting payment from his clients as he isn't man enough to do it?

Why does Patrick need Angie to make a bomb? There are probably thousands of other people who can do that for him.

Why didn't what's-his-face just leave Lynette on the couch? He obviously don't want to kill her since she's been so nice to him. There was no reason for him to stop and the door when she just thought the police had made mistake. He should just have kept walking out.

Bad setup for all the stories, but I do like that there's more going on in the finale than just one storyline.

I think Bree should fire Sam, try to record his blackmail threat, and then tell Sam if he goes to the police they won't have enough evidence to reopen the case anyway but now can prosecute Sam for attempted blackmail! He either walks or risks his own arrest from the police, problem solved.

Seriously, has Lynette learned nothing? She took in her husband's brat who turned out to be psycho; one of her brats brings home a psycho Russian and now she's just picking psychos off the street! Her street smarts are way off. I have to say I'm very impressed with the costume department's helping a previously flat chested Lynette look so voluptuous!
I loved Bree's "No-one has tea-parties anymore" quote said with such gleefulness. I think it's time for Bree to bring her gun to the next tea party and sort Sam out once and for all.
I still don't get why Gaby's kids are so fat. She doesn't feed them unhealthy food - they must get their genes from Carlos' Mum's side of the family!

blame the writers for Lynette's lapse in judgement. No way after seeing Eddie's violent side would she not have suspected he was involved in his mother's death. She saw through Tom's daughter right away and her son's fiancee as well, but with Eddie she is clueless. Writers take too much liberty.

i really hope teri hatcher isnt leaving the show,

I'm confused about Susan's finances as well. Did they use the money from the sale of the strip club to repay Carlos? And of course it's never mentioned that Susan should be receiving royalties from her books.

Also, how does an established house plumber manage to get himself into such deep financial doodoo? Does this mean that his trusting nature worked just fine until now? I can see this happening if a big job went south (say, a new building and the owners went into bankruptcy). He should have had plenty of time to adjust to take cash up front.

I'd heard rumors Teri Hatcher might be leaving the show. Guess this is it...?

So the DH theme du jour is "no good need goes unpunished."?!

Wow, there are some great holes in the storytelling aren't there!? Wow!

Of course, Andrew's running over of Mrs. Solis had to come out sometime but I think that they de-eviled Sam a little bit with this ill-timed threat.

heyyyyyyy!!!! :)
