american-idol-michael-lynche-aaron-kelly-top5-out-320.jpgThe  "American Idol" Top 5 did so awesome on Frank Sinatra night, the producers decided to bring back the group-sing medley. Thanks, Frankie.

Actually, they all looked pretty dapper all suited up. Anyway, on to the elimination.

We found out early on that Lee Dewyze was safe, which was a no brainer considering his masterful take on "That's Life" the previous night.

Finally, we learned that Big Mike and Aaron Kelly are in the Bottom 2. Suspense at this point isn't drawn out (we've already seen Lady Gaga and Harry Connick, Jr. perform by now), so we learn pretty quickly afterward that 17-year-old Aaron is out.

He goes out in style, delivering "Fly Me to the Moon" with great energy. Good on you, Aaron.

And congratulations, Top 4.

Is this who you expected? Did someone else deserve to go before him?

Yes,I did think Aaron could go. I don't know what everybody else heard but I did not feel he sang well at all. And Big Mike , well he sings the same thing every week and is just plain boring.
So the bottom 2 was not a surprise for me.

I like Aaron, but feel he is one of two idols who has sang every song the same. Meanwhile, the judges have ask Mike. Casey (especially), and Crystal to perform from various styles. Lee, whose confidence they have been trying to build, has also not been ask to change from fast delivered raspy style every song. Big difference in treatment for Lee vs Casey. Every song has been same deivery except the bag pipe. I do like the Lee style personally, but would like to "see more" as requested by others. Lee has only been ask to have confidence?

Careful Lee fan. If Lee is ever ask to deliver a style different than his fast paced raspy singing he could go quickly. Keep in mind that the judges were asking the others to use different styles (constantly told others to use differentr angles), while building Lee"s confidence each week with no request to improve. Look at performances on utube, they are all the same ewxcept less missed notesa lately.

Not surprsed at all! Actually am surprised he stayed so long! BIG Mike going next week..then Casey...then Krystal. LEE IS THE WINNER...HANDS DOWN!

To be honest aside from Crystal I really couldn't care less who gets sent home!

This has been a terrible Idol season and the producers really need to get their act together for next season...

Here's a great blog piece I read recently that really nailed the problems of the show - and 8 ways to fix them!

I don't buy for one minute that Mike's performance this week, compared to Casey's
performance, was deserving of the bottom 2. On the other hand, it's the time of
the season when personalities get the votes -- not voices -- so I understand.

Aaron Kelly needs mention too. Harry Connick did wonders with him. He sang
circles around Casey this week. For Mike and Aaron to fall in the bottom 2,
lower than Casey, says the competition has reached that point it does every
year when it's all about personality and nothing about talent.

I keep saying every year it's my last year to watch, that until they install a
one-vote system I'm done with the b.s. of being able to vote 100s, 1000s,
even 10s of thousands of times.

What does this measure? How fast your phone is? How exceptional the
software on your computer is?

It may speak to technology, but then I though this competition was supposed
to be a singing competition.

American Idol need to get over its need to claim that 32m+ people vote
every week, when in fact it's more like 320,000 people -- willing to call in
100 times each.

I'm especially disappointed that Randy, Ellen, Kara and Simon would be
willing to lend their otherwise good names and honest judgments to
a total sham in which their positions and responsibilities are absolutely
meaningless.

who ever said it thier wrong i love big mike.. even i know he wont win but he ahs it in him.. hes a good singer, but crystal will win dont like lee at all needs to go home next week...

Of course Aaron needs to go home, he has gone long enough for his age.

And that doesn't mean that if Casey wasn't good on Sinatra night, then he should be eliminated. He proved himself already. It's just that everybody has their own weaknesses. We all know that.

Btw, I like Aaron and I know he's gonna have a bright future in his singing career.

IMO Aaron had one of the technically best voices of the season, and by far the best personality. E19 will be fools not to sign him.
